Laura (apenandzen) | 1445 comments I'm thinking about buying a Wii Fit, and I was wondering if any chicks use it. I've heard that the Wii My Fitness Coach game is actually better than the Fit??? But I've heard terrific things about the Fit as well. I'm really not into computer games, so I don't know much about any of this.

Although I was in great shape a couple of years ago, I have about 20 lbs. to lose now. I haven't really exercised for a couple of years either, so I need to have something where I can start slow and work up. Since I started to go thru menopause, I now have NO tolerance for the heat, so I like the idea of indoor exercise.

Also, to have something that would have motivation and encouragement built in would be really good for me too.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Hi Laura!
I have wii fit and love it when I use it. I get lazy and put it away for a while and then feel guilty. It is great. You can definitely start slow with it and work yourself into more strength and endurance. It is the most fun when you know others so you can either compete and/or talk about unlocking more exercises. The more you use it and the better you do, the more exercises you get.

There is a lot of additional software you can buy so the chance of getting bored decreases. I just got My Fitness Coach but have not used it yet.

You can't go wrong with it. It is not like video games at all, although I do admit to liking video games.

Laura (apenandzen) | 1445 comments Thanks Meg!

OK so how does it work where you connect to others? Do you do this through the game? How does the game get to the internet to connect with other people? This is part of what I don't understand.

message 4: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments You connect to the internet through wifi if you have that. If you don't have internet connection then you can't network with others. But the game part of exercise is just through the software. It really is a lot of fun.

We have the wii fit and I really like it too. I would like to try the fitness coach because the one thing about the wii fit that i don't like is you cant just set it to a work out and go you have to constantly go back to the menu once you finish one part of it.
Meg you need to tell us how fitness coach is.

My wii fit told me i'm unbalanced... I'm pretty sure that's a sign.

message 6: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 1445 comments I just wonder if I'm in shape enough for the fitness coach, cuz my understanding is that one's more of a workout.

message 7: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Start slowly with the wii fit. When you feel that you are in shape enough then order the coach. You don't have to do it all at once.

message 8: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 1445 comments But I'm blubbery! And obese! And-water-buffalo-like! Only stretch clothes now fit below the waist, and I'm not buying another size. Make it stop!

Hell make ME stop.

:)

Thanks for the encouragement Meg.

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I so feel your pain. Want to be a weight losing buddy? I think that would help me too.

message 10: by Erika (new)

Erika You know, I've been thinking about getting Wii Fit, but one of my friends told me it talks about how you have gained weight, or haven't used it in a while, and I thought that may be off - putting. Have you had any experience with this?

message 11: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 130 comments We have the Wii Fit and love it too. I have to confess that we haven't used it in a while but we will be doing it again very soon. When you first sign in it will tell you how long ago you used it!

message 12: by Vicki (new)

Vicki I have Wii Fit... I enjoy it, but I can't exactly say how much I am losing with it. I also am counting calories too. It does comment when its been a few days and sometimes it bothers me and sometimes it motivates me. It's like I tell myself I have to go on it so it won't yell at me.

My personal favorite right now is the Cardio workout, its all boxing moves, but I really enjoy it. It does some additional workouts with the balance board.

The EA Sports coming out in May looks good too.

Brittany (missbrittany) | 336 comments I have a Wii Fit and have been using it about 4 times a week since the middle of January. I like it a lot.

Funny Wii Fit story... DH has a profile, and had used the Fit a few times. His older, bigger brother came by a few weeks ago and wanted to try it out. Rather than making a new profile, he did a Body Test and a few other things as DH. When he weighed and checked his balance, it said he gained 42 pounds and he needed to think about why... then proceeded to list factors that may cause weight gain and ask him to choose which applied. The next night, when I used the Fit, it asked me how DH looked lately, and gave me a choice of "the same", "thinner", or "heavier". I clicked "the same", and the talking Fit Board animation then told me I had better start paying more attention!!!

Erika ha ha, gasp, sigh, ha ha <---(can't breathe she's laughing so hard)

Yes! But I have to decide to give up the Easter candy first. It will be soon. And I'm not eating that much, I promise!

message 17: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments well Easter candy can last just so long, so I think you will be fine on the candy front as long as you can promise not to buy more.

message 18: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 1445 comments No worries. I didn't buy it, people gave it to me. One of my tax clients plays the Easter Bunny every year and drops off a huge basket - this year she had one of the local florists do it, and it is tremendous. I'm trying to foist most of it off on other, skinnier people!

Kristie (spedkristie) | 385 comments I love my wii fit....anymore I usually only use the free step option so I can watch tv.....I didn't even know it went online. I just got it hooked up to the internet after 2 years!!!!

so does that mean we can wii fit together?

message 21: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments wii can get fit together, wouldn't that be fun? Also, it is supposed to have the capabilities of being able to play video games against each other. Mario Kart here I come!

message 22: by Tera, First Chick (new)

Tera | 2564 comments Mod
That would be a great way to motivate each other. We could do wii fit classes together.

OHHHH we are getting Mario Cart this weekend. Ill challange you to a race (youll win because I'm sure I suck)

message 23: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I so suck at Mario Kart, but who cares it is so much fun.

message 24: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 130 comments My kids have Mario Kart and I suck at it too. It is cool how you can play against people all over the world.

message 25: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Ha, I placed in all the 50 CC in Mario Kart but now that I am playing 100 CC its all over for me:(

Can we do something with Wii Fit together? I just got my Wii in February and I haven't done the internet yet, I just got Wii fit like 2 weeks ago.

message 26: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I am going to see if any of my tech friends can tell me how to do this.

message 27: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 49 comments I would love to join in. My daughter has wii fit and I can't seem to get back to the gym and bathing suit season is almost here.

message 28: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 130 comments That would be a lot of fun and motivating too.

message 29: by Erika (new)

Erika Count me in if we can figure it out.

message 30: by Katie (new)

Katie (katieisallbooked) | 319 comments My Wii Fit had me in tears last week. I got on and did the body test. It groaned when I stepped on and reprimanded me for gaining weight. When my husband got home from work, I was standing there yelling "I'm not fat! I'm just pregnant!" at the TV. lol

From now on I'll Fit, but I'm skipping the daily body test.

message 31: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Oh you poor thing. Just think what is going to say to you after you deliver! I can't wait to hear it.

message 32: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 1445 comments It groans when you step on it? Mine is gonna HATE me!!

Maybe it'll play a whale-watching tune. Or "Mating Calls of the Water Buffalo".....

I'm ordering mine tomorrow - just applied for a Target card and you get 10% off a purchase.

Looking forward to this. I'm way too competitive, so being connected to you all I am sure will motivate me.

And those whales can finally STOP CALLING ME!!

message 33: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments You are way too funny. There are ways to sneak on without being yelled out. So don't be afraid.

message 34: by Vicki (new)

Vicki How.. I get yelled at all the time. But not today, today it was proud of me, because I used it yesterday too:)

message 35: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Just go straight to the exercise and don't do the body tests etc. then you won't be yelled at!

message 36: by Katie (new)

That's been my solution, Meg!
