Kat | 84 comments These days there are thousands of books with strong female leads, I was wondering who everyone would pick as the most inspiring for their real life. Who is the best fictional heroine you've read about and admire?

Patricia Hargraves | 94 comments Claire from The Outlander Series

message 3: by Zain (new)

Zain Abdullah (heathermasonsbooty) There are tons to choose from. So many that I can't just pick one. I can do a list, but I can't guarantee that I'll cover them all.
My picks:
- Shallan Davar from Way of Kings
-Arya Stark from Game of Thrones
-Vin from Mistborn
-Cattie-brie from the Legend of Drizzt
-Triss from Blood of Elves
-Kitty from The Bartimaeus Trilogy
-Katniss from Hunger Games
-Hermione from Harry Potter
-Sabriel from, well, Sabriel xD
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I'm probably missing some big ones xP

Gabriella | 23 comments Leisel from the book thief. She inspired me to do many things.

message 5: by N (new)

N | 276 comments Katniss Everdeen has to be an obvious Modern day one, Moll Flanders, Charlotte Grey, Scarlett O'Hara, Arya Stark, Hermione Granger, Jayne Eyre and Emma. Tonnes of weak ones that stand by and squeal like a Bond girl. sigh.

✿.Ⓐⓟⓞⓞⓡⓥⓐ.✿ (apoorvak) Scout!!!!! Ahhhh I love Scout!!! To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book, and although she is a child, Scout is such an inspiration in so many ways, including through Atticus.

message 8: by Isabella (last edited May 07, 2013 05:51PM) (new)

Isabella (bellavinter) Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass, just because she rocks!
Tris Prior - Divergent
Lena Haloway - Pandemonium and Requiem (in Delirium she was great, but not really a heroine!)
Juliette - Shatter Me (Mostly because she is semi-insane!)

message 9: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Hermione Granger( H P) and Eve Dallas(from J.D Robb 's In Death series).

message 10: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Martin | 11 comments Fire from Kristin Cashore's Fire. She was amazing, string, independent, she wasn't jealous, and she made a selfless decision that was so very difficult for her. I loved this heroine.

Felicia | 2 comments Elspeth from the Mage Winds trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. shes a very strong woman but still has faults that she learns from. just like in real life.
and I to have a hard time with Katniss. *not sure if this would be considered a spoiler but just in case. . . spoiler* There were a few times that she did some very selfish things and never learned from them. I do not find those inspiring qualities.

I hadn't even thought of Annabeth but she is amazing! I totally admire her drive and determination. Especially in Mark of Athena.

message 32: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Friend (SFSmits) | 17 comments Jane Eyre is definitely a strong heroine, I also feel that Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden turns into a heroine at the end by pushing herself and her friends :), but my Ultimate Heroine would probably have to be Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, even if she is a bit stubborn :)

Laura | 62 comments Apoorva wrote: "Scout!!!!! Ahhhh I love Scout!!! To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book, and although she is a child, Scout is such an inspiration in so many ways, including through Atticus."

Agreed so much! That entire book is so inspiring.

And I second everyone saying Hermione. I just adore her.

Also, Violet from A Series of Unfortunate Events.

haha, idk Rita. I was not the one who made the original comment. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding.

I think Arya Stark is one of my favorite characters from this seires. I can't wait to see how her story concludes. For so young a person, she is incredibly resilient.
