High Speed Trains on the Horizon

Jesus Christ. At least he has ambitions and plans to get us out of a stinking oil addiction and overcome our rotting highway systems.

There needs to be a balance, immediate concerns have to come first & foremost - like getting people back on their feet - but some of this money has to invest in our future, because as it stands we don't seem to have a great one ahead as it is.
Something has to change. ::happy dance too::

I'm pro-Obama. I voted for him and my wife worked on his campaign. However, as I've said before, I'm actually becoming more conservative over the last couple of years. However, with all the labels, etc. I think it's important to note that Obama does have some traditionally conservative ideas. For example, he's pro-charter schools and merit pay for teachers, two areas that "liberal" democratic candidates have not supported for years.
Maybe the old liberal and conservative labels are starting to give way a bit.
I want those f--king trains, too. I want 'em bad.

Better late than never?
At least my hypothetical children will be able to enjoy fast and cheap(?) transit from LA to SF.

RA I think that is partly why I like Obama as well. He doesn't seem to be sticking to specific political party labels. He's trying to bring together the issues that we need to discuss and the right people who know about these issues. He's shaking things up and seeing what comes out. He's talking to the people! (As opposed to several presidential names we could discuss)
I think we should be talking about things like pro-charter schools and merit pay for teachers. We should be looking to other countries who have successful national healthcare and free tuition for students, as well as the ability to take care of their elderly, not just toss them out on the streets. We should be looking for solutions to the problems we have, but looking with a new eye to it all.
We need to snip at those party lines and get down & dirty with what really matters, right now and in the future.
