Kemal Abdić (kemal_) Hello everyone

I'm history student from Bosnia and Herzegovina. My interests are: history (obviously), construction of identities, deconstruction, postcolonialism, postmodernism, postcolonial literature, post-structuralism, ancient Illyricum, early medieval Illyricum, nations, anthropology etc.

Katie (katie1421) Welcome to The History Book Club, De. It's great to have you here. I've spent some time in the Baltimore area myself - it's a really lovely part of the country. Cultural history is one of my favorites as well, so we'll have plenty to discuss.

Based on your interests, you may want to start getting comfortable here by taking a look at:

Historical Fiction

British History

Ancient History

There are many other folders where you can discuss topics that interest you as well.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how books that you mention should look:

Paideia The Ideals of Greek Culture, 3 Vols by Werner Wilhelm Jaeger by Werner Wilhelm Jaeger Werner Wilhelm Jaeger

Neal Wilson Hello all. I recently retired from a long career in communications. I was a reporter for awhile then got into financial reporting. I love history, especially from the 1800's and 20th century. I read a lot of historical fiction, if I can determine it accurately reflects a certain period in time. Look forward to hearing from others on good books.

William Eidem (kelleyeidem) | 1 comments Hello. My name is Kelley Eidem. I'm 64 and am semi retired. Long ago I worked in a library and saw more books that I wanted to read than would be humanly possible. I prefer nonfiction for the most part, especially history and biographies.

Lately I've become addicted to the internet, so maybe this group will help me disconnect a little.

Kare Gutierrez | 1 comments Hello - My name is Kare and I work in the legal field in Florida, USA. I was born in Cuba, part of a family who experienced the Spanish - Cuban wars, the Spanish Civil War, and the October Missile Crisis. I grew up among piles of books that fluctuated from Smith to Marx, from Plato to Lenin, and I have come to the conclusion that you never really stop learning from history. Probably the only thing that allows you to appreciate our human character to the fullest.

I am excited to be part of your group and thank you for accepting me!

Hi Marilda, welcome to the History Book Club. With your interests in Egyptian and European history, you should enjoy the History Book Club's recommended Eisenhower in War and Peace by Jean Edward Smith Jean Edward Smith Jean Edward Smith There are some good chapters on President Eisenhower's opposition to his closest allies , Britain and France 's moves in the Suez Crisis. Eisenhower sided with Nasser against European imperialism.

Luis L.M | 1 comments Hi to all History fans.
This is by reading S.Zweig's Magellan that I decided to stop reading novels and concentrate on history, one of my early passions.

I am half French and half Spanish and read all three languages perfectly: with the realisation that actually few people DO read in multiple languages, I found myself an almost painful duty there. Not to let go, not to ever stop reading, even if it meant drowning into the beauty of someone else's prose.

Also going for German now.
Have a good day.
4 June/2015: And of course I CAN'T stop reading novels altogether :-) !!

Bryan Craig Welcome, Loremar. Glad you could join us. We have topics on military history.

Military History

There are also many other folders where you can discuss topics that interest you.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how books should look:
