Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

My name is Elyse. I am a 22 year old college student. I have always loved learning about history, especially about the Victorian and Edwardian era. I' really looking forward to be apart of this group.

My name is Ioanna. Even though I originally joined this group in order to pose a question to your community of historians and history lovers I ended up loving it for its considerable amount of topics and informed opinions. Have a nice day!

I'm Dave. I'm a 42 year old software developer in Madison, WI. I've been back into reading in a big way these last few years after way too much of my free time spent playing video games.
I love history and my high school Western Civilization class was my favorite course ever, college included. I have a notion of going through history, philosophy and literature somewhat chronologically. Sort of using the Will Durant Story of Civilization series as a rough outline.
So I have an eye toward ancient history and probably will work into the medieval period in the next few years. Also I'm particularly interested in 20th century political history and will definitely be mixing in those books.
Here's what I'm currently reading, need to see if I can post in the right format. :)

I'm Jeffrey. I was a Philosophy/Journalism major at Georgia State University. I enjoy reading books about Military History and Strategy, Philosophy, Science, and Theology. Currently, I am reading Will Durant's The Story of Philosophy.

Hello, I’m Jessica. I live in Pennsylvania, United States. For the most part I enjoy exploring reality based reading i.e. philosophy, political science, psychology and other pieces from different reaches of the world out of interest in sociology and history. This is some of why I decided to start tracking my reads and finding likeminded people and groups on Goodreads. I possess a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina (USA). By day, I am a professional consultant in Project Management. Your group The History Book Club appealed to some of these interests and your reads look interesting so I decided to join.
Hello, I'm Martina from Italy. I used to hate history at school but now I found out that I love it!
I'm particularly interested in European (Ancient Rome, the Tudor's England, the Borgias) and early Japanese history (Nara, Heian, Kamakura periods), but I like to learn about other countries and periods as well. I'm also very interested in women's history and history's most powerful queens life.
I've already taken a look at the community and I'm sure I will enjoy being here. Nice to meet you :)

I am Tracy Lim from Singapore. I work in a telecommunication company as an IT personnel.
I love reading especially novels with historical background, particularly from China, Japan, Singapore, North Korea, Germany.
With all the read up, I will plan to visit the countries to see the places. I have been to China and Japan a number of times.
I also like to read about history of wars especially the ones on Japanese invasion to S.E.A.
I am new in joining reading clubs and love to learn from all in this club.

I always loved history. Since from my early age my mother started to buy books about it. They were awesome!
My favourite topic from history is about ancient empires, wars, legendary warriors and generals and at the end about my country.
I hope that this group will give something new for me to read and learn, and I will do my best to help others about somethnig that they don't know or don't understand quite well.
Best wishes Mirza.

I am a student who is quite interested in History/Science. I focus in a lot of scientific history but otherwise I also am quite interested in the First World War. I am from Kansas City so the National World War One museum is located here. I used to facilitate tours in the museum but my schedule got the best of me. So if any of you are more into scientific history or World War I, I am the guy that would love to discuss it all with you.

So far I'm pretty much into WW2 and WW1 history. Currently reading Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson , and once I finish I'll be starting The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany by William L. Shirer.
Happy to have found this group, and hopefully there's some people that have similar interests!

I'm currently reading

My name is Slaveya and I'm from Bulgaria. Now I live and study in Sofia.
I'm passionate history student and my interests are in Balkan history, mostly 19-20cent., even tho I'm such a huge fan of Byzantium and Serbia of the Nemanici. To be honest, I don't like reading historical novels and fiction at all.. I love those heavy academical books and the way historians write.. My favorite historian, btw, so far, is Fyodor Uspensky. There are none of his books here on goodreads, but as I am librarian (here on the site), I'm planning to add them soon.
That's from me, I hope I'll find friends here and have the chance to discuss a lot of books!
Cya!

I´ve studied American history in College, and my interests lie mostly in history from the 20th centuary and onwards, but I´m thinking about reading something about the Napoleonic wars soon. I´m currently reading "Nixonland", which I really am enjoying. Looking forward to finding some good history reccomendations in this group!

I love all kinds of history and tend to develop fixations for a certain era or event or person and read a bunch of books on the subject until I feel sated. Current fixation: early U.S. history, focusing on the Revolutionary War. Right now I'm doing
