I'm Dave. I'm a 42 year old software developer in Madison, WI. I've been back into reading in a big way these last few years after way too much of my free time spent playing video games.

I love history and my high school Western Civilization class was my favorite course ever, college included. I have a notion of going through history, philosophy and literature somewhat chronologically. Sort of using the Will Durant Story of Civilization series as a rough outline.

So I have an eye toward ancient history and probably will work into the medieval period in the next few years. Also I'm particularly interested in 20th century political history and will definitely be mixing in those books.

I am a student who is quite interested in History/Science. I focus in a lot of scientific history but otherwise I also am quite interested in the First World War. I am from Kansas City so the National World War One museum is located here. I used to facilitate tours in the museum but my schedule got the best of me. So if any of you are more into scientific history or World War I, I am the guy that would love to discuss it all with you.

Heyas all. I'm Ben. Im 40 (it shocks me every time I say that) and from Michigan. I'm a fan of many genres including fantasy and horror (even wrote a horror book), but over the past few years I've been drawn more towards historical fiction and non fiction history (especially due to Eric Larson).

So far I'm pretty much into WW2 and WW1 history. Currently reading Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson , and once I finish I'll be starting The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany by William L. Shirer.

Nancy here. I was born in 1951, and live near Seattle, Washington (state), USA. I'm an accountant (semi-indolent) and a volunteer for MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry), where I work on sorting and archiving a gift of photographs from a local newspaper that is now digital only.

I'm currently reading by Robert Harris. I've been a hardcore nonfiction fan for years, and have recently started expanding my horizons in a 50 (52) books in 2015 challenge, which has pushed me into other genres. The Harris book is historical fiction. I'm completely engaged with it; it's an easier read than many of the straight non-fiction books I read. Oh, yes, it's about the Dreyfus Affair, told from the point of view of Georges Picquart, who was involved in implicating Dreyfus and then in clearing him.

I'm passionate history student and my interests are in Balkan history, mostly 19-20cent., even tho I'm such a huge fan of Byzantium and Serbia of the Nemanici. To be honest, I don't like reading historical novels and fiction at all.. I love those heavy academical books and the way historians write.. My favorite historian, btw, so far, is Fyodor Uspensky. There are none of his books here on goodreads, but as I am librarian (here on the site), I'm planning to add them soon.

Hi, my name is Marco, but my nome de Goodreads is Montgomery, for some reason.

I´ve studied American history in College, and my interests lie mostly in history from the 20th centuary and onwards, but I´m thinking about reading something about the Napoleonic wars soon. I´m currently reading "Nixonland", which I really am enjoying. Looking forward to finding some good history reccomendations in this group!

Hello, my name is Fiona and I live in Canada's beautiful capital Ottawa. I'm a school librarian, usually, but having to take time off for health reasons, which offers a chance to catch up on my reading.
I love all kinds of history and tend to develop fixations for a certain era or event or person and read a bunch of books on the subject until I feel sated. Current fixation: early U.S. history, focusing on the Revolutionary War. Right now I'm doing by Ron Chernow (did I do that right?), which has been slow going because of how heavy the book is. Literally. It weighs a couple pounds and my arms get tired.

Hello I'm Courtney from Indiana, USA. I've always loved history, lately I've been reading a lot of presidential biographies (with a plan to read one on each president, in order)and US history. I sought out this group after deciding I needed to learn more about the French Revolution. I'd love a recommendation for a good introduction to the topic. I'm sure I'll find help here!
