Greetings, my name is John. I'm a 48yo Logistics Tech. Origionally from Kansas but since retiring from the Army I've lived in Tacoma, Wa. I like learning history. What really got me into history is the three years I was in Germany and seeing all the Castles(I miss Bavaria).
I like to read nonfiction history(mostly military). My favorite is Civil War and WWII.
Doing my family geneology has expanded my interest in history also.

Hi, I'm Alicja originally from Poland but have lived about 2/3s of my life in Florida, US. I have always loved history, especially ancient world (ancient Greece, Persia, Rome, etc. and anything Alexander the Great) and WWII (with a special fondness for the British). I completely adore anything written by Mary Renault (who has written ancient world fiction, WWII fiction, and historical non-fiction). I am no expert and read historical fiction and non-fiction just for fun. I also love a little sci-fi in my history through time travel (you can blame it on Doctor Who, and more specifically on 'The Empty Child' episode; I couldn't get over Jack and Rose dancing on top of a Chula ship in front of Big Ben during the London Blitz with barrage balloons in the air). Since then I've been partial to time travel history fiction, Connie Willis being my favorite author there. I am also interested in the history of the LGBT movement as well as that of historical LGBT figures.

My name is Ricki and I joined the group months ago, but between relocating for work, getting laid off, and trying to reestablish a my schedule I haven't been able to read much.

I joined the group because I have an interest in historical events have shaped our current societies. Much of this interest arises from my life long interest in communities and politics/policies.
