Chris (ce_roma) | 2 comments So everyone the movie comes out this Friday. It's a quick read, I've read it twice, still meh about it. I'm reading it again before my movie date. My questions are how many of you are reading it before seeing it or vice versa? Did your love of the book make you want to see the movie?

Kaylan Rose | 3 comments I have loved the book since I first read it in high school, something in me is completely obsessed with the lifestyle in that time! And I did enjoy the Robert Redford version, but thr trailer for this new one seems to capture all the flashiness and lavishness I picture when I read the book... I can totally not wait.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 193 comments I've read the novel twice and don't see it as the Great American Novel, yet I do want to see this movie. I hope DiCaprio's performance is as good as it looks in the clips.

Dawn | 547 comments I read the novel a couple times in ninth grade and loved it but haven't read it since, and I still love the Robert Redford film (seen it several times). The trailer for this new version looks fantastic so I'm excited--like Kaylan said, this one seems flashy and lavish in a good way.

Jennifer | 239 comments This is one of my all time favorite American novels. I've read it too many times to count but will not be rereading prior to seeing the new Baz Luhrman movie. I loved the Redford movie and have high hopes for the DiCaprio/Luhrman one. Hopefully it lives up to the novel's greatness! Here's to crossed fingers!

Caitlin Lillie (kiwibookworm) | 33 comments Amazing, absolutely amazing. Amazing characters, amazinger plot, amazingest writing.

Jessica (cosytomelibrary) I really want to see the movie but I've told myself I'll read the book first (like I do most of the time) so I can compare what a imagined to the film.
I seem to be reading, writing even doing schoolwork on the rpraing 20s atm, is the film good?

I didn't like the DiCaprio/Luhrman movie at all. The only thing I really enjoyed was how they decided to explain the unique narration. It just relied too much on computer graphics and ended up looking fake. That said, even though the Robert Redford movie is older, I remember it being a wonderful rendition of the book and if you want to see a movie version - watch the Redford one.
