readers advisory for all discussion

It was an experimental fiction book that had no punctuation (it was the literary equivalent of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music). I picked it up new at a chain book store in Manhattan circa 86-88. Any help in finding the title and author would be appreciated. I'm not going to read it again (the horror). I just want to add it to my Goodreads "Read" list and if I can locate it again, give it away to unsuspecting friends and family.
