Shirley | 6 comments Just finished First Night of Summer by Landon Parham
Fantastic psychological thriller that brought on emotions that I have never experienced from words on a page before. It is disturbing, graphic yet heart wrenching and enthralling all at once. Probably made my top three favorite books of all time. I don't really know how to describe it other than it just really moved me. He has already won awards for this debut novel.

Like his Facebook and show him our love. <3

I have read that book too, Shirley! No one really has heard of it beacause it is new but I thought it was EXCELLENT. I agree it was a graphic read but so powerful in its prose. I have told everyone I know too. I cried and screamed at its pages! I LOOVED IT. :) I am a sucker for crime thrillers and I really enjoyed the family point of view. Very well-written for a debut.

You might try THE KEY TO REBECCA, by Ken Follett, afterwards. Good spy novel, with the Du Maurier novel figuring into the plot.

the only thing Dan Brown wrote was a book that posed the question: what if Jesus had a daughter? It was a great concept, otherwise it was an empty book. I quit reading him ... then had to read the last two just to say I had.

Dan Brown has just got to come up with something different. I can't believe this book hasn't bombed. After I read it, I was sure it would.

Sean Brennan | 3 comments Brown CAN NOT come up with anything different, as he STOLE the original idea for Da Vinci Code, he is just truly awful.

message 544: by Bill (new)

Bill Paugh | 0 comments I am close to finishing A Man Without Breath, one of Philip Kerr's Bernie Gunther novels I just finished Prague Fatale, so when I finish my current book I'll be caught up with the series. it has been interesting to see Gunther's detective career develop from the 1930's into the 1950's. I don't know the survivability of someone as vocal and opinionated as is Gunther, but it I have enjoyed watching his falling into situations and getting himself out.
