I finished Victims by Jonathan Kellerman. Similar plot to previous Kellerman books - psychopaths and horrible crimes. The book was only okay.

Finished Before I Go To Sleep. (sigh) Exactly how many times must the story of "Gaslight", or some variation on that theme, be told? It's being made into a film with Colin Firth having a starring role, but not even Colin will get me to the theater to see this one.

I've also just finished Faithful Place, which had a much more original plot than the first book I mentioned. I knew who the murderer was from practically the beginning and I had a difficult time liking the protagonist, but it was still a pretty enjoyable "listen".

Just finished The Meeting, Episode I of Trench Coats . Seeley James hits all the marks in these first six chapters of the sequel to The Geneva Decision , returning soccer-star-turned-security-CEO Pia Sabel to a new adventure. Part 1 of this serialized novel shows James' growth as an author while delivering on many of the qualities that made the previous book a good read. A solid four stars.

I picked up several at the library this week. Started Walter Mosley's and as quickly set it down again. Don't get me wrong, I like Mosley and I like Easy Rawlins. It just seemed this one was trying to give us a ten year synopsis in the first ten pages. He kept introducing characters, sometimes three or four a page.

Picked up Tess Gerritson's The Mephisto Club. I'm kind of ambivalent about Gerritson. I just hated Ice Cold but liked the historical part of The Bone Garden. Mephisto is starting off pretty decently. I'd decided this one would be a make or break for Tess with me. I'm sure she doesn't want to lose me.

Checked out a couple more Lawrence Block. He's growing on me. Loved Small Town, Hated Hit Parade. Now I have a couple of the burglar ones.

AAAAAAAARGH! All I have to say is thank the universe that Burke published another installment of his Robicheaux series before I read the one I just finished, The Glass Rainbow , because this one ended with a cliffhanger!

I'm currently about half way through the second book in the The Eagle of the Ninth Chronicles and enjoying very much; still enjoying The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie and just started and already half way through The Spy Who Loved Me (James Bond, which is the most atypical Bond story I've read this month..

Just finished In Harm's Way by Ridley Pearson. My first Pearson and I thought it was pretty good. I'm now reading Zero Day by David Baldacci.

I'm reading A Sunless Sea by Anne Perry, a Commander Monk mystery. Perry sets her books in 1800s England and it's always incredible to me that (in the books at least) such nebulous evidence is sufficient to arrest and try people. Some tall blonde man is seen in the vicinity of the crime and bingo, a tall blonde man vaguely associated with the victim is arrested, put on trial, and maybe convicted and hanged (all in about two weeks). I keep thinking this is silly....defense lawyers would rip this apart in five seconds.

I don't know how accurate Perry's depiction is but I'd hate to have been suspected of a crime in those days if that's the way the judicial system worked. LOL

I took Sean up on his recommendation of Michael Dibdin and now have "Ratking" (the first in the Aurelio Zen series) from the library. Going to start it soon.

Just finished The Burning Air by Erin Kelly. Another compelling psychological suspense thriller from a very talented writer.

I finished "Murder As A Fine Art" and what a wonderful read! A very unique plot in Victorian England. Author is David Morrell; he's written a lot of books, but this is my first. It won't be my last!

Also read Peter Lovesey's "TheTooth Tattoo" so I've read all the Diamond books. Easy reads with some fun recurring people.

I finally got a copy of Citadel. The third in Kate Mosse. Labryinth series. Then away from mystery to Paris, a Rutherford history, and big!

Currently I'm reading Bones Are Forever by Kathy Reichs. Tempe Brennan is investigating the discovery of 3 dead newborns in an abandoned apartment. So far it has been gripping. I just finished The Bone Yard by 2-man writing team Jefferson Bass. After someone's dog unearths a human skull, the protagonist does some digging and finds a hidden graveyard of boys from a reformatory who are homicide victims. Tihs book is so good I gave it 5 stars and am seeking out other books by this writing team.

Just listened to the first Peter Diamond, The Last Detective very, very, good. I've read one other random Peter Diamond but now I'll be looking for more.

I loved The Bone Yard, also. The Body Farm series is very good.

I just finished The American by Andrew Britton. I started this in February and sheer determination made me finish it. It picked up about 50% into the book. It was okay, rated it 3 stars.

Just read True Detectives by Kellerman. Oh dear, I struggled to remember who was who. It has a huge cast of characters and the plot befuddled me.
I just finished Rush of Blood by Mark Billingham - another disappointment. I need something good, I hope the new one by Harlen Coben cheers me up.

I'm about to start The Case of the Missing Servant the first Vish Puri mystery.

I've been reading books recommended on this thread and I've just started reading my first Jack Reacher book. I'm very impressed. Some of the others, not so much as I have posted before.

I loved the first one in the series and have read the 2nd and 3rd which aren't up to the same level as the initial one.

I just finished Six Years and it was good, but didn't hit me between the eyes. It was the first Coben novel I've read, but I would read another.

six years is definitely not his best work. my personal fave is Gone for Good
