Yes it does. I loved Rules of Civility and this book is supposed to be a little like it.

Just finished An American Spy The third in the "Tourist" series is a wonderful end to the story even though I suspect, and hope, there is more to come. What makes this series so great is that the primary characters are so 'real'. When Milo Weaver gets in jam he escapes not because he is a world class sniper - he's not. It's not because of some wild, unbelievable car chase- there isn't one. And it's not because he is some martial arts expert, he has trouble keeping up with his six year old daughter. He survives and wins the day because he understands motivations. And the author reveals those motivations by rewinding the clock and showing events multiple times through the actions of one player at a time. It may sound confusing but it really works and by the end the plot is ingrained in the reader's mind. It is like watching a movie scene shot from six different cameras.

It's a strange story, but I liked.

Just finished Let Me Go by Chelsea Cain, very good. Now on to the newest Alex Cross book Cross My Heart. After reading the prologue, I'm now worried about the direction this book may take the series.

Almost half way through Carved in Bone and enjoying it so far, flows nicely and keeps my interest up. Starting a classic now as well, A Room with a View by E.M. Forster

I have just started 'the violet hour' by Richard Montanari, I have read most of his books and usually find myself unable to put them down. However so far I have to say this doesn't seem to be up to the usual standard, admittedly I am only up to chapter 8, so I will stick with it for now. I have just finished 2 brilliant books, 'let me go' by Chelsea Cain- read every one of her books and loved them all! and 'poppet' by Mo Hayder, who again is one of my favourite authors.

I think there are a few of us involved in BC. I'm not on the site as much as I used to be. Partly due to Kindle and partly due to arthritis in my hands. Also haven't been making it to as many meetings since I retired last year, again due to arthritis and the fact that I keep falling asleep on the couch in the afternoon.

I'm about 100 pages into The Mermaids Singing by Val McDermid, the first book of hers I've tried. Very good so far.

Anyone read 'A Man Without Breath' by Philip Kerr? Just wondered what you all made of it.

I just finished . It was okay. It seemed slow moving but once the characters developed it was a bit more interesting. It had a white supremacist plot which I didn't care for but stuck it out because I genuinely like the characters and wondered what happened to them.

I finished Kinsey and Me: Stories by Sue Grafton. Part 1 is short stories about Sue Grafton's detective Kinsey Milhone, relating small detective cases. Part 2 is semi-autobiographical stories about a young woman recalling incidents from her life with alcoholic parents. Grafton's voice shines here and we feel the pain of her youth and young womanhood.

Currently reading Jumper ... I am thinking of completing the whole series.

Just finished The Devil's Bones which I think is the 5th in the series. Very good.

I've also just finished The Hanging Tree by Bryan Gruley, second in the Starvation Lake trilogy. Even though there was a good bit of hockey (and I'm not a fan of hockey) it was a terrific story. I'm looking forward to the 3rd.

Donna, I really liked The Devil's Bones, also. Cremation is my choice for when I'm gone and I was fascinated by the process.

I just finished Cross My Heart and it was very good. I know a lot of people either love or hate it because of the ending, but I don't think that's fair. The book is well written and reminded me of the books in the beginning of the Alex Cross series. I gave it 5 stars and am eagerly awaiting the next one. Today I will start the newest King and Maxwell book titled King and Maxwell. I loved the last one.

Just started reading Catering to Nobody by Diane Mott Davidson. It's the first in her Goldy the Caterer series. Goldy caters a wake, her ex-father-in-law croaks, and Goldy's accused of having added poison to the menu. So far it's been an entertaining read.

Anyone know if there is a buddy read thread? This would be where you and one or more individuals decide to read a book together given a certain month? They have one on the reading challenge site but it seems most of the members there reads other genres not mystery/thriller.
