I'm doing great, thanks for asking! How are you? I did read "They're Watching" and I remember it being really good. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to reading "Tell No Lies"! Thanks for your input!

Tad (tottman) | 139 comments Just started Transfer of Power, my first Mitch Rapp book by Vince Flynn. I've been wanting to read these for a while and it's definitely living up to the hype.

message 3006: by Carol (new)

Carol | 152 comments I love Mitch Rapp. My husband and I listened to many of the books on long car trips. I actually cried when I read the last one, which was published posthumously.
Vince Flynn was such a great author. I heard a number of interviews and he impressed me. So tragic that he died of cancer so young leaving a wife and young children.

+1. Well said.

Ken Consaul | 209 comments I always wanted to tackle Ludlum's Bourne series. I got about half way through The Bourne Identity and could go no further. Can't put my finger on why they didn't appeal to me. My boat was floating but seemed like it was drifting. I jumped overboard in a squall and was rescued by a fishing trawler. I have no memory of how I got here.

Jean | 358 comments @Tay,
How did you like Gods of Guilt? I am usually a big Connelly fan, but what I remember of this one is that it was good but not his usual superb.

message 3014: by Jeff (new)

Jeff I just finished Line Of Vision which was a pretty good take on the courtroom thriller...

Lately I've become more and more drawn to historical thrillers like Murder as a Fine Art. Can anyone recommend other books like these?

Tim Warner | 72 comments Gosh it's been a while for me to be on here! I have hit The WALL. I need some good authors to continue. I have read most of the popular ones, and got bogged down in the intensity and density of John Connolly (but still rate him tops.) So I need some recommendations for good thrillers, serial killers, mysteries. Thanks for all your help.

message 3016: by Tom (new)

Tom Knable | 21 comments David Baldacci is one of the best. I have read most of his books and am looking forward to more.

message 3017: by Marian (new)

Marian I just finished Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

and now getting back to.. Sworn to Silence (Kate Burkholder, #1) by Linda Castillo

message 3018: by Tad (new)

Tad (tottman) | 139 comments Finished Transfer of Power (Mitch Rapp #3) by Vince Flynn which was awesome! Now I've started Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn . Another book I've been meaning to read for a long time, and now that I've seen the movie trailer which looks great, I figured it was time to start.

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 407 comments John, there are specific threads in the group for authors, this isn't really the place to do it.

message 3021: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 775 comments I just finished Cold Granite. It was okay. It just seemed to drag on a bit. I think part of it was because it had a lot of contractions and some of the word phrasing I got lost in. This is my first book by this author. I did enjoy the characters and plots.

message 3022: by Paige (new)

Paige | 81 comments Hi,
Tim I would recommend PLUM ISLAND by Nelson DeMille. I just finished it and would highly recommend it! When I finish a book and look for another by the same Author that is a high recommendation. I am now reading THE QUEST by the same Author. I also enjoyed THE GATE HOUSE and THE GOLD COAST by him.

Paige

Sean Peters | 155 comments It's All About Treo by Dave Heyhoe

Although this is a very different pace of book from my usual nerve tingling thrillers.

It is a story that touches your heart, fast paced no, thrilling no, but you learn how much work goes into looking after a "war dog", and the love between man and dog and even more so between man and war dog.

Especially Dave Heyhoe and Treo, is makes you proud of the soldiers in all the countries fighting for our countries

It warms your heart and touches you so much the sadness and death in Afghanistan, the heat, the brutal battle of war, the fear of death for you and your dog.

The pressure of going out in front of all the soldiers to find the bombs, the fear of your much praise dog being shot, because he was so good at his job.

A few tears, I have to admit came to me at the end, especially of how proud Dave was of his brave dog.

Enjoy this heart warming story of a incredible relationship between the two and the lovely happy ending.

message 3024: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments I finished The Hidden Child by Camilla Läckberg. In Sweden two teens break into the house of Erik Frankel, an elderly man who collects Nazi memorabilia, and find his decomposed body. Meanwhile crime writer Erica Falck, looking through her deceased mother's things, finds a Nazi medal. This leads to two investigations - the police look into Erik's death and Erica searches for information about her mother. The story alternates between the present-day and World War II when some Swedes aided the resistance in Nazi-occupied Norway. I found the book's characters more interesting than the mystery, which was fairly ordinary and foreshadowed by the book's title. The book does provide some interesting insight into Sweden's role in WWII. Overall, an okay book.

I am currently reading A Darkness More Than Night A Darkness More Than Night (Harry Bosch, #7; Terry McCaleb, #2) by Michael Connelly and it, as are all of the others I've read, is very good!! I have yet to read a bad Bosch book!! Connelly has a way of pulling you into his stories and you feel like you know Bosch personally. I am especially enjoying this one because it's got some courtroom action. I tend to love those and the dialog that comes with it. Looking forward to finishing this one and moving on to the next!!

Jean | 358 comments Stunned. Shocked. I have just finished Karin Slaughter's Beyond Reach. Those of you who really liked this book know what I'm talking about. No, I won't spoil it for anyone who wishes to read it. I'll just say that I had to read a lot of reviews, sort of like an online support group, so I wouldn't feel quite so sad. The book was terrific, but I did not see the end coming. I had to go onto Karin's website to read her spoiler letter to her readers to see if it was indeed true...Sadly...well, enough said.
Time for a rebound relationship! I'm moving on to Brian Freeman's Bone House!

I have just finished A Judgement in Stone, by Ruth Rendell. I think it is one of the best crime novels I've ever read, and for me, that's saying a lot. OMG - I sat on my can the entire day reading this book and I didn't care about anything else.

Sanda (anais_nin) | 33 comments I just finished The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair by Joël Dicker - I must admit I devoured that book. I finished it a few days ago and am still thinking about - trying to figure out how to write a review that would do it justice.

Just started Guilt by Association (Rachel Knight #1) by Marcia Clark . Interesting series - a police procedural with strong female characters. I can already anticipate what the next 3 books I read will be (there are 3 more books in the series).

message 3042: by Malina (new)

Jean | 358 comments Aiesha & Tom, Michael Connelly is one of my favorites! If I ever get bored (not likely with all the new authors I'm discovering through Goodreads), I'm going to start rereading his books!

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments I finished Münsters Fall by Håkan Nesser. Waldemar Leverkuhn and three of his friends are thrilled to find they've won the lottery and go out to celebrate. Returning home drunk Leverkuhn falls into bed and is murdered. Chief Inspector Van Veeteren is on leave so his subordinate, Inspector Munster, is assigned the case. Munster questions Leverkuhn's wife, neighbors, and children but gets few clues. In addition, the married Inspector is distracted by fantasies about his attractive co-worker. To add to the mystery a formidable woman living in Leverkuhn's building also disappears. Munster eventually discovers secrets related to the crimes, a twist that tends to be overused in mystery novels. All in all I enjoyed the story.
