Haven't read that series, but a long time ago I read her Meredith & Markby series while going through my English village phase.

I enjoyed her first couple of books, but did not really like The Distant Hours. It never quite captured me either.......probably why I haven't yet bothered with The House at Riverton. Let me know how you get on. 8:D
