The Marching Season by Daniel Silva was a good read. I don't know why he ended that series.

Just started Joyland by Stephen King this morning. Next in the queue is Hidden Order by Brad Thor. After that The English Girl by Daniel Silva.

I finisbed The End of the Wasp Season by Denise Mina. In this mystery, a young woman is viciously murdered and a rich, arrogant, older man commits suicide. Glasgow detective, Alex Morrow - pregnant with twins - investigates while navigating dissension in the police station. Good book. 4 stars

My reading marathon continues with Open Season, Dying To Get Published, and Disco For The Departed.

Open season was the first Joe Gunther book I've read and I can see why this is a long running series, very good. I listened to Disco for the departed. Hearing the correct pronunciation of the names and places added to my enjoyment of this terrific series.

I'm currently reading Never Forget by Lisa Cutts. Must say, so far it's a good read. Lisa Cutts is a new author and Never Forget has just been released. Crime from the perspective of a writer who is in the police force. Good stuff, well written and exciting.

Finished Second Honeymoon, even better than the first, and I'm now reading Airtight Case by Beverly Connor. It's the first in this series that I have read and I like it so far.

I just finished Before I Go To Sleep. It wasn't as good as I had hoped, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Now I'm reading another Peter Robinson book from the DCI Banks series, Bad Boy.

Two books in two days! The Drop and The Black Box. Really enjoyed them after a long dry spell where I struggled to find anything worthwhile to read. Harry Bosch remains one of my favorite detectives and Michael Connelly is a masterful storyteller. Highly recommended.

Just finished Thieftaker, a supernatural historical mystery which was really good. I've put the sequel on my 'to-get' list. Now I'm starting Fifth Grave Past the Light.

Finished today readingThe Drowning Pool I reread it for the second time. Kim Renyolds mysteries series is just as much guys read who like the main charcter to be a women just as much as much as they are chic lits. Later this summer I'll be readingThe Truth Sleuth.

Reading Lie Still which is a new author for me.

I'm just starting The Execution of Noa P. Singleton by Elizabeth L. Silver.

Love Rex Stout. He's such a comfort read.

I just read a really interesting book on my kindle last week. "A Beautiful Month" by Brandon Thomas. It is kind of erotic. Lots of sex, but lots of other stuff. Has a grammar mistake in it but it is a fast read and was well worth my time. Fifty Shades mixed with Goodfellas lol

I finished The First Patient by Michael Palmer. The storyline involves the President of the U.S. having episodes of mental instability which may involve the disappearance of his personal physician. The President calls in his old doctor pal to help out and the action takes off from there. Good book. 4 stars.

I'm reading the fourth in the Enzo Macleod series by Peter May,, "Freeze Frame". He's a forensic who is solving very old murders, due to a bet with a journalist. The first one was so interesting, I've continued. Also, it takes place in France, so renewing travel memories (and creating new places to go).

Read Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1), really liked it. I love alternating genres every now and then. I really felt like this book was well written. It was very easy to imagine the silo - just enough details were given - I can imagine how some authors who are inclined to describe every blade of grass could have given us so many more details of the silo, but it was obviously not necessary. (now I'm rambling, lol) I also have finished Patterson's Honeymoon, and Second Honeymoon both which were very good.

I'm currently reading The Heist, while it's good, it's not what I expected. I'll finish that and then try to find a good mystery/suspense book. Any suggestions?

I'm listening to the audio book of The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov. I rarely read science fiction but I saw it at the library and checked it out on impulse. It's supposed to be a science fiction/detective story fusion book. Apparently Asimov wanted to demonstrate that science fiction could meld with other genres (according to the book cover). The detective partners are a cop and a very human looking robot. But the "detection" seems to consist of the cop just accusing one person after another -he doesn't even question suspects. Not such a good "fusion" . ha ha ha

Am reading Caterina de Medici, 3 books in 1 about her by Jean Plaidy, and it's fascinating. Trouble is it's on interlibrary loan for two weeks and close to 1000 pages. I hope I can finish it in time because this is a strong period for me as goes being filled with things I have to be at or do, including possibly preparing for surgery and finishing a baby blanket for a brand new great-great grandchild. Wish me luck. I hate to buy books just to donate since this one is older and probably wouldn't yield much and we have to little space to collect books other than our personal hobby reference type.

I've had the same issue with Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1)! Apparently I'm not the only one in Whatcom County trying to read it--others also have good taste in literature! I'm ever so grateful for the interlibrary loan, but occasionally I too wonder if I should have just bought the book. I've managed to read one or two sections of WOOL before the due date and then I'm right back on the hold list.

Asimov wrote a couple of mysteries - the Elijah Bailey science fiction ones (there's a sequel to Caves of Steel - The Naked Sun), and I think also Murder at the ABA.

Just starting Sandrine's Case, it is certainly different.

Currently reading Thicker Than Blood - The Complete Andrew Z. Thomas Series. I must say I wanted a good suspense and I got it. This one is a page turner psycho/thriller. Really good. It's a trilogy and supposedly the last in the series is the best. I'm making my way there pretty fast.

I have finished ReEmergent - A.M. Hargrove a couple of days ago and now I am reading Should've Known Better - Cassandra Carr.

I just finished Stephen King's superb "11/22/63," and I recommend it highly.

Several people have mentioned the Alex Kava books so I got a couple from the library. Newer ones in the series but they can be picked up without issues.

Finished Hotwireand nearly finished with Black Friday and have to admit I'm a bit conflicted ... I like the characters, not wild about the storylines.

Probably not the right forum for this, but has anyone read the Robert Galbraith novel "Cuckoo's Calling"?

I understand it has an interesting twist:

Have this one but have not started it yet. It was getting pretty good reviews even before this came out.

Hope you are okay Elli, Congrats on the new little one, I am sure you will finish, both the book and the blanket, Can always interlibrary loan it again if you do not. Or sometimes they will renew for an additional 2 wks.

Finished Chasing Aphrodite: The Hunt for Looted Antiquities at the World's Richest Museum . It's one of the best true-crime books I've read, a thorough but engaging account of the many criminal and ethical train wrecks hidden behind the imposing façade of the world's richest museum. This could be the basis for a fine soap opera, or Law & Order franchise. Five stars.

I'm in another genre; reading Bill Buckley's "Miles Gone By" and thoroughly enjoying it. Just learned if you are a Prime Amazon Member they are streaming the "Firing Line" tapes. Almost worth $79 to see his Gore Vidl, everything but a fist fight" interviews.

I finished book 5 in the Quincy/Rainie series by Lisa Gardner last week. Gone was very suspenseful, however, not the most realistic when it came to the "action" scenes. It was also pretty predictable, which was disappointing but all in all, it was still enjoyable.

While I wait for the last book of the series, Say Goodbye, to become available at the library, I am reading Ricochet, which so far, is fabulous!!! This is my first book by this author and I'm LOVING her writing style! I feel like I'm watching a movie as I'm reading. The dialogue and the descriptions are great! I'm quickly becoming a fan of Sandra Brown!!

l'm currently reading Above The Limit.

I just finished Airtight Case by Beverly Connor and I liked it really well. It was quite a bit different from other books I have read, dealing with archeology, and it was rich in history dating back to pre-Revolutionary War around the Smokey Mountains. Now reading It by Stephen King.

Currently I'm reading Panic by Jeff Abbott. It has been very suspenseful. Before this I finished 10th Anniversary by James Patterson. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
