ipad or ereader?

If it is only for reading, I don't think anything beats an ereader. But if you also want the features of a tablet an iPad mini is most likely okay.
I haven't read books on my iPad yet and it is quite heavy compared to my ereader. Also as I have an ordinary iPad it is too big for my small handbag but my ereader fits perfectly.

I have an ipad, but it got to be too bulky to carry around, if I was also carting other things (textbooks, etc), the weight wasn't worth the time I spent commuting since I could just read on my phone. So I went smaller to a kindle e-reader, but then I realized that while it does have the benefit of reading in the sunlight, I couldn't do much else with it as I could do on the ipad or my phone.
So I sold my kindle and bought a Samsung tab 7 inch which is on the small side and easy to carry and has a lot more functions than an e-reader, and the downside is that not all apps are workable/same from apple to android. So I missed out on all apps I am familiar and use on my ipad, like my to do list and financial apps. So I am waiting for the new ipad mini to come out and I will pass down my Samsung to my youngest sister who likes using it to watch movies/shows.
So it just comes down to what you need out of it. If you want more features than just reading than I would suggest going for the ipad.

I use my mum's iPad a lot, and just think it's a bit clunky, and the os is a bit annoying. I'm by no means bashing Apple here, by the way; I have a MacBook Pro which is the best bit of kit I've ever bought, but I feel that the iPad is a little behind the times these days in some aspects.

I agree if you are wanting something just for reading, then an ereader is much better. If you won't be doing a lot of reading, and want more of a tablet that you can read on, then a ipad is fine.
I have both, but I read about 2-3 books per week which is why I wanted a kindle. Much easier on the eyes and you can use it outside in the sunshine, and as others have said, hardly needs charging

What I wanted to ask is, is an ereader, like kobo glo, so much better than the ipad? Should I just get an ereader?
