Hi Anne :)
That one has already been nominated and will be used, you need to nominate something new if you want it to be included.

Yeah I think it will be hard to find 1 book for that one let alone 2! lol

Read a book by an author that is new to you.
(any author so long as you have never read anything by them before.)

If it is a knight then yes, cause that is their uniform.

And in a more sf context like this

Hi Amanda, unfortunately I cannot let this nominations go through as we have a rule: "we shouldn't be forced to read any specific title"
There should be several books that fit the criteria as we don't all like to read the same books.
Feel free to nominate something else :)

Lu, I think you missed Kelly's nomination in message 10. We're certainly in for some interesting choices.
Agreed!
Now we just need more nominations :)
I just love planning for a challenge! Let's hope I can actually read this year :(

It *is* a tough one: I'm expanding it to "Asian mythology", which of course includes India, China, Middle Eastern countries, Russia, etc. That provides loads of options.
Yeah I was lucky it fits into one of the series I am reading but I could imagine others struggling so I think the expansion is a good idea :)
Can I read the The Hare with Amber Eyes for that one? It is a non-fiction book that revolves around a collection of Japanese carvings that represent Japanese mythological/ figures etc.

Lauren wrote: "I'm sorry, but it doesn't look like The Hare with the Amber Eyes would count. I read the plot summary and some reviews, and it seems that the netsuke are important as pieces of art, rather than as ..."
I'll read it and check the detail and if it doesn't qualify I can always use it for the colour task!

11. Read a book that is a rewrite of (e.g. from another perspective) or sequel to another book/series that is not written by the same author as the original.

What? That's really hard!

Hehe, I've been thinking of nominating the same task, except that I was going to make it 3 letters. I'll be reading iD by Madeline Ashby.

Note: it's fine if one or more of the friends have romantic relationships, but the main plot should be based on a purely platonic friendship.

Read a book that has been written by an author who has published under at least 3 names e.g Jayne Anne Krentz who has also published as Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle. I find this website very useful for those kind of facts http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/
Lauren wrote: "Oh, just remembered that there have been some horror comedy rewrites of classic novels. Maybe I should check one of those out."
They would work and were one of the options I had in mind for that task.

Frederick Forsyth did a sequel to Phantom of the Opera and Susan Hill and Sally Beauman did pre- and sequels to Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier if that helps.

I read a book that I loved recently that was written from the heroines perspective. The author has now written the same story but from the heroes POV I assume this would work? At least I hope so because I was going to nominate a similar task so I could read this book :D

Wallbanger (other topics)

How it works:
Each person can nominate 1 task they want to add. You can only nominate until the 20th of May, then on the 20st - 31st of May you can nominate another 1. If we need more we will nominate again and adjust the dates until we reach 30 tasks. I will then put everything together and tada we have a new challenge :)
Still a little confused?
Just have a look at the type of things others nominate and you can jump right in or look at our previous Mishmash Challenges.
This challenge will last one year and start on the 1st of June (depends on how quick we get nominations).
Oh and please try and make it do-able. Not something like "read 50 books starting with the letter S".
Rules:
* Tasks should only require you to read 1 book!!
