Do you scare your friends sometimes?

I bet the librarians at my local library think I'm some kind of psycho, because of some of the TC books I check out. They're always really nice to me though.
I was at the Strand and asked the clerk if they had Witch by Glenn Puit or Cannibal by Lois Jones and he gave me this really strange look.
I just got Cannibal: The True Story Behind the Maneater of Rotenburg in the mail yesterday. Haven't started it yet though.

For the sins of my father by Albert DeMeo
Uncle Frank by Leonard Katz
Accardo-The Genuine Godfather by William F. Roemer,Jr.
Rothstein by David Pietrusza
The boys from New Jersey by Robert Rudolph

Meyer Lansky and the Gangster Life by Robert Lacey

I read For the Sins of My Father: A Mafia Killer, His Son, and the Legacy of a Mob Life. I thought that one was very good.

I just picked up a couple books about crime in NYC at the strand. I'll have to list them when I get home.
Rothstein: The Life, Times, and Murder of the Criminal Genius Who Fixed the 1919 World Series. That one sounds right up your alley, Bella. True Crime & Baseball wrapped up in one.

Bella -- a GREAT place to start with NYC historical crime is Luc Sante's book 'Low Life - The Lures and Snares of Old New York'. He is without question one of the very best writers - not only TC, but _any_kind of writing - working today. I literally could not put this book down, and in fact have read it three times. It's that good. Please check it out. You'll thank me!
