I do not know if anyone has posted a topic on this, and I apologize if it has already has been discussed. )=. haha!

But it seems like I am the only person who really did not like the movie all as much. I personally thought the acting wasn't all that great (it seemed like Edward and Bella were kinda in a forced relationship), and they ruined a few parts. Especially "spider monkey". I have no idea what that is... I am glad that they did make it into a movie, I am, I just think they could of done a better job and kept some of the main parts in there and less of the ones they made up. The only part I liked was the baseball scene.

What did everyone else think of it? Like or dislike it?

I hated the movie! It was horrible. so horrible.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree it was horrible!they kinda ruined the story for me.

message 4: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie I didn't like it much.. I went with a friend who loves it and I laughed like crazy b/c the acting was soooo absurd throughout most of it. I watched it again recently with friends fom school and had the same opinion of it. The acting is horrible (except for Charlie. I thought he was great. The part with the gun- haha!) and so much stuff was changed. But it had a pretty good soundtrack. omg. The spidermonkey thing... I laughed for like two full minutes. WTF?? And Jasper was so freaking awkward looking. And Jacob was such a horrible horrible actor. So you know what, I got a lot of laughs out of this movie (even though they weren't meant to be funny moments) so at least I could enjoy it in that sense.

message 5: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I definitely thought it was horrible, but it was entertaining at the same time. It was just ridiculous how corny it was and how bad the actors were...

message 6: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments yay! People who think the same as me!! All of my friends loved this movie, I have one friend who went and saw it in the theatre 6 times! I didn't like this movie. There were parts of it that I thought were pretty cool, such as the baseball scene. And I LOVED Charlie, he was perfect. I thought Bella was ok too, there were just some scenes... Edward was horrible! Ugh, he cannot act!

Another thing that really bugged me was the makeup. I mean come on, it looked like stage makeup, not at all appropriate for the screen.

message 7: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 19, 2009 05:53PM) (new)

When I went to first go watch it, it was in theaters with my best friend who adored the movie, and thought it was "amazing".. I thought it was really hysterical! Especially Jasper and Edward! Jasper to me, looked constipated throughout the whole movie, while Edward had a bunch of different accents. Random... As for Jacob, his hair did not move, which bugged me like crazy! I do have to admit with Kimberly though. The makeup drove me insane! Especially on Carlisle. His face was pale, but when you spotted his neck, it was tan.... I do not think that was suppose to happen.. haha!!! =|

Alice was my favorite though.(I loved her hair!) She did a good job! & Charlie was pretty funny. Emmett was the cute guy out of the bunch though...

In the place where I live, girls are going crazy. I work in the public library, and they are always asking for the books, because they thought the movie was just "adoring". But the average age of these funny girls is probably 13, so there really is no reason to try and persuade them any... haha.

Its awesome to see some people who do have some of the same opinions as I. Its better than being the odd girl out.... (= Thanks!!!

message 8: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey I don't know why.. but I loved it. I mean.. yeah the make up was bad and some other things would've probably bugged me if I saw it more than once.. but I was like a squealy teenage girl through the whole movie. Hehe.

message 9: by S (new)

S The books are cheesy and so was the movie, so I wasn't disappointed on that aspect of it. I was disappointed by the horrific acting though. I wanted to smack Kristen Stewart though. The way she acts makes her look like she's having a damn seizure in every scene! Ugh. And of course the make-up was awful as well, but amusing at the same time :P I'll go to see the other films just because I want to compare them with the books, but that's pretty much the ONLY reason I would want to see them.

message 10: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) I...love it. I love the cheesiness. I originally saw it in theaters with my boyfriend so I couldn't squeal along with a bunch of twelve year olds, but I really wanted to and I do when I watch it at home. Haha.

haha you need to come to my house and watch it with my sister and her best friend. haha..they go CRAZY. they are both 20 and watched it 5 times in the theater and then they pretty much watch it once or twice a week and squeal all the time. It's quite funny. I did have a ton of fun going with them to the midnight showing though. I just wished it had been better because I really enjoyed the books as far as a guilty pleasure went. i think i had too high of hopes for it.

message 12: by Frances (new)

Frances Davidson (freakfornature) | 38 comments So, my little sister (16) demanded that I take her to the showing, she had just finished all the books, and the movie had come out in time for her to come home from boarding school at the same time I was on break from college. So, being the Type B personality I am, i took her to it. It must have been the funniest, most dramatic movie I have ever seen. there were so many moments where Bella and Edward just stared at eachother. I would not be surprised if there was about 20 minutes of ogling in that movie. then- the spidermonkey scene just made me shake uncontrollably as I tried to respect the many admiring tweens also at the theatre, my sister was slightly less conscientous as she belted out in laughter. I think the cheesiest thing they could have done, though- was the sparkling, i mean, the sparkling alone wouldn't have been so bad, but every single time sun shone down on Edward a psychotic chorus of wind-chimes rang until a annoyed cloud passed over Edward to shut them up. the movie, though, did give me some reason to read the books, though, and i got through them in less than a week (a school week, nonetheless...)

message 13: by Kami (new)

Kami | 15 comments I HATED the movie!!! When I went, almost everyone in the theater was laughing AT the movie...the sparkling, running with Bella on the back, Jasper's facial expressions period. The movie kind of made me hate everything Twilight. lol

message 14: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Not to mention the literal orgasm noises that people were making when Edward and then the Cullen family appeared on the screen for the first time. I was like, "Really?!", because I'm not kidding. It wasn't
"Woohoo! Ow ow!", it was actual, "I feel like everybody in this room is having sex right now." It was one of the weirdest things...

message 15: by Mandee (last edited Jun 11, 2009 12:22PM) (new)

Mandee (amandalinajanel) | 378 comments OMG!...that is hilarious!

I saw it in the dollar theater with something like six or eight other people. Total... in the entire theater. If that had happened when I went to see it I couldn't help myself but hate the movie. But it didn't, so I actually thought it was better than the book.

I hated Bella in the book, but the filmmakers changed her just enough for me to be mildly indifferent to her (minus two scenes in which she made me gag a little)...and I actually liked Charlie in the movie, but I didn't at all in the book. Yeah, it was extremely melodramatic and cheesy, and was missing some good parts of the book (and included some of the horrible parts), but I was glad I saw it if only for the laugh factor. It's definitely a guilty pleasure, though.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I laughed when Edward growled at those guys who were going to hurt Bella. By that time I just couldn't not laugh anymore! haha I will agree that Charlie's character was awesome. I also though that Alice did a good job, but everyone else was just so awkward and ridiculous!

message 17: by Frances (new)

Frances Davidson (freakfornature) | 38 comments Alice was definitely my favorite; she just has that slightly quirky, very outgoing loveable personality, that was good enough reason for the over-dramatacized movie and the books. :)
i especially enjoyed the part when Bella told her father about Edward while he was cleaning his rifle. it was perfect. :)

message 18: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 24, 2009 04:21PM) (new)

Yeah, my dad went to see the movie with my sister and Charlie's rifle was his favorite part... I wonder why? :)

message 19: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments lol, my favorite scene was with Charlie and the rifle too. My dad loved it. My dad has a favorite saying
"I have a 45 and a shovel and no one would miss you"

message 20: by Frances (new)

Frances Davidson (freakfornature) | 38 comments lol, that's great. I remember distinctly, when a guy showed obvious interest in me for the first time and having been flattered by that--well, it was very short lived, i remember my dad taking me aside while we were grocery shopping and asking calmly as he was examining avocadoes if I wanted to be responsible for the young man's death. so, that was the end of that. :)

message 21: by Keara (new)

Keara Clifford (KearaClifford) | 22 comments it was really horrible wasnt it :( its really a bummer because the books were pretty good. The scence were edward takes bella into the woods behind the school and rips a tree out of the ground was probably the worst.

lets hope the second is better :p

message 22: by Mandee (new)

Mandee (amandalinajanel) | 378 comments Keara, I couldn't agree with you more! That was the scene (for me) where the filmmakers made Bella most like she was in the book (which I personally really didn't like her in the book). It was probably the cheesiest scene in the movie, for sure. That, and the insertion of the line: there are three things I know for sure...Edward blah, blah, vampire, blah, blood, thirst, blah, irrevocably in love with him, gag. Okay, it was cheesy and horrible in the book, but in the movie it was even worse because she said this line after like a week, or so. WHAT?! Okay, whatever.

message 23: by Bella (new)

Bella Ouyang | 3 comments i really like the movie!!!and i have watched it for several times already.I extremely like the scence that after they two had comfirmed their relationship, and came out of the car in school. And the music. That's amazing!!!
As for the makeup,i think it is required because of their identity.
i am now looking forward to the coming new movie!!!

message 24: by Sara (new)

Sara I liked the movie but I thought a lot of it was poorly done. Carlisle looked soo bad, he was way too pale. As for the spider monkey seen, what was that?!? I liked the final prom scene I thought that was done well. The acting overall could have been better, I think Charlie did a great job throughout the movie I really liked the gun scene I thought it was a great add in. I hope New Moon has better acting.

message 25: by Liz (new)

Liz I saw the movie and plan on reading the book at some point. I have to say, I didn't think Bella was a good actress--I've seen her in other things, and she has a major tendency to open and close her mouth like a fish. I'm sorry if anyone did like it, that just annoyed me!

message 26: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie I don't think Kristen Stewart is attractive at all (Rob Pattison isn't that hot either if you ask me). She always looks like she's on drugs in all the pics I see of her. .. Wow... I didn't mean to be a bitch. haah. Although it comes off that way. I just think it's silly when people are talking about what a beautiful couple they are, or whatever.

message 27: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I thought Kristen Stewart was awesome in Panic Room, but I haven't really seen anything else she's been in besides Twilight...

message 28: by Mandee (new)

Mandee (amandalinajanel) | 378 comments I agree, about Kristen Stewart in Panic Room.

I really didn't like Bella's character in the book, so I thought they made her as good as they could make her in the movie. I thought Kristen was pretty enough in Twilight (I mean, I don't think her character was supposed to be all that pretty in the books), but I don't really get all the craziness with Rob Pattinson. I'm sure he's a great guy and all, but he isn't what I would consider hot. At all.

The casting was pretty bad all around (IMO) except for Charlie. Alice and Jacob's dad were pretty good too. That's all, at this moment anyway, that I can remember thinking they did a good job with the casting. I saw the movie before I read the books (I think that might be the first time I've ever done that, so I didn't go into the movie with preconceived notions as to what I thought the actors should be like). That might've helped me with the whole Kristen Stewart thing. I don't know...

message 29: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I think with Rob Pattinson, people are just attracted to that dark and mysterious vampire type guy and are thus attracted to him because he plays one in a movie. I never really understood the attraction either, but I have to admit that I thought he was a bit more attractive after seeing the movie...

message 30: by Mandee (new)

Mandee (amandalinajanel) | 378 comments LOL :D So did I! I couldn't help myself :P

That dark and mysterious vampire type thing is hot. I'd even go farther and say it's all those things plus the intensity ...so I'm right there with them :) but that's just a fantasy. I mean, the idea of having someone that into you is one thing, but the reality would probably be kinda scary! A little stalker or creeper(esque).

message 31: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) This was a movie I was forced to watch by my roommate. I found it horrible and painful to watch. The acting as many have said was poor and a few of the lines were completly unneccesary it seems, like the "spider monkey" thing. The tree climbing was laughable as well.
I enjoy vampire anything...almost. So I understand some of the attraction to it, but some things just don't cut it for me.

message 32: by Emily (new)

Emily O (readingwhilefemale) | 487 comments My friends and I got together to watch it for a good laugh. We made a whole Twilight bashing party out of it. It was hilarious. The acting was terrible, and with a plot line like that you can't get away with bad acting. I mean, all they did the entire time was stare at each other in a really creepy and possessive way. After we were done we took pictures of ourselves acting like the characters by staring at each other with that weird "I want to eat you" look on our faces. It was great.
