1. Read an Aussie author with a reference to winter either in their title or the storyline.
Winter Be My Shield by Jo Spurrier

2. Read a NON Aussie author with a reference to winter either in their title or the storyline.
Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson

3. Pick a friend, and read a book from their list which you haven't read before. Put your friends name in your list as well!
Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich - lots of my friends have this on their shelves

4. Love the Literature Map...so.. put in the name of your favourite author, and choose a book by the author closest! Literature Map
Was reading a Patricia Briggs so used her as the search term - book:Halfway to the Grave|1421990] by Jeaniene Frost

5. Choose a New Release which is published in either June, July or August 2013.
TBA – have a few on my ARC review piles so will pick one of them when the time comes

6. There will be some of you who have never read a Graphic Novel before...so surprise yourself with the enjoyment of reading one!
TBA – will see what they have at the library

7. Read anything Non Fiction (biographies, auto-biographies, memoirs)

10. International Children's Day is on 1st June - read a children's book, or a Young Adult book of your choice.

I add an extra challenge - must fill as many of the challenges in with books from my TBR pile BFORE I let myself look elsewhere!!

I really will have to pick up the Obernewtyn series - i read the first one when it first came out and loved it, then sort of got tired of waiting for each next one to come out - maybe it will be my personal challenge for 2014 - read the whole series

1. Read an Aussie author with a reference to winter - Cloudstreet by Tim Winton

2. Read a NON Aussie author with a reference to winter - Sister by Rosamund Lupton - by the looks, I'd say it's set in a very cold place.

3. Pick a friend, and read a book from their list - The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton - booklist from Sally, Dale and many others

4. Love the Literature Map - Put in Carlos Ruiz Zafón and came up with Markus Zusak. Will read Underdog

5. Choose a New Release which is published in either June, July or August 2013 - TBA

6. Graphic Novel - Maus by Art Spiegelman

7. Read anything Non Fiction - Tall Man: The Death of Doomadgee by Chloe Hooper

8. suspense/murder mystery/thriller - The Postman Always Rings Twice by James M. Cain

9. Author born June, July or August -

Great list Mish, and yes, Sister is set during a bitterly cold winter:)


Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Also I can confirm that Maus is fantastic. Ditto for Persepolis, if anyone is after anything different for their graphic novel - autobiographical, and set during the Islamic revolution in Iran.

Totally agree Liam, I loved Maus ..it was my introduction to graphic novels, and I have Persepolis here to read:)

I read it ages ago, it was recommended by Carmel, and I was so glad I read it...

Yeah I've heard it's very good. It was a toss up between the 2 you mentioned by my library doesn't have Persepolis so I chose Maus instead :)

I was tossing up between Maus and Hamlet. All these glowing recommendations are making me think I should join the club and read Maus!

I'll have to see if I can get it at the library; they have a copy that isn't available for request so I'm not sure if that means it can't be borrowed. The other copy has about 6 people in the queue ahead of me. It's popular!

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) "Not available for request" can be because it's missing/lost, I'd check with the staff if I were you. Online catalogues are usually pretty hit-or-miss :P

I already have a personal challenge, so any other books I read'll be TBR anyway. That said, I'll probably end up cheating & reading The Mayflower Project out of sheer curiosity.

Almost HALF of my GR friends have read this, so I decided this would be the best bet.

Ooh thanks Christy for #8! I didn't know there was a new release...I have added it to my TBR! Also I didn't realize Tess Gerritsen had her birthday in June...I might change my birthday choice too:) And you're welcome with #1:)

Steve | 1031 comments I've been sneakily editing my list for the past few days with no real changes, just re-flowing the TBRs thanks to my OCD, but due to actually reaching Lord of Chaos in the Autumn Challenge, I've kicked it out and added Star Trek: Voyager: The Eternal Tide. And yes Brenda, I've already edited my post. :-)

I've had Until Tuesday for quite awhile, nearly read it a couple of times, I'm a little worried it could be a tear jerker!

Michael, I've read some Simon's Cat but not this one and not a whole book and yes he's very funny, I figure if I read the possible sad one first then read Simon's Cat straight after it will cheer me up!
