Ankita Kapoor | 1 comments Excitedly, Adani informed Gill of Mrs. Rana’s arrival. I was amazed at the power of money and how avarice can even change your worst mood to an ebullient one.
“That’s good, the praise of the show has reached her ears too. My publicity is working!” he blurted and continued in the same breath, “Get all the lights on and properly focused on the prints.”
We thought he was about to leave, and I was praying that he did, because I was starving. He stayed a few extra minutes to give the most important last minute instruction.
“Do remember to change the rate list before you hand it over to her. a thirty percent offset on all the prices, as this lady can afford to pay any price that we ask for, and I don’t want to lose this opportunity.”
That was expected. How he could escape his shrewd business side? He had a factor to offset the rate list for every other category of buyer that visited his gallery.
As he was exiting, he winked at the two of us and said, “You two remember to show me the money after the lady leaves.” We both looked at each other stupefied. Now how were we supposed to do that?
I guess I will have to forget all the principles of honesty and ethics I learned before working at the gallery and practice some lessons in chicanery and crookedness. What we have to do in order to earn a living!
Just when I thought I would be honest and loyal toward work at this new place, I got blown in the face by my boss, who is teaching me to be an incorrigible liar and is entrenching me in a model of deceit. What kind of workplace is this? Have ethics and righteousness gone for a toss?
