Simon Okill (tassyoneill) | 52 comments Hi guys I am Phantom Bigfoot the new moderator of Action/Adventure and will kick off this discussion with The Guns of Navarone by Alistair Maclean. A masterpiece of simplistic writing unclogged by female sentiment as was all Maclean novels for even the women were as tough as the men. The film surpassed the book in spades. Why?

I would have to go with Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, if we included action/adventure/fantasy.

If we stick to action/adventure only:

The Bourne Identity.

The other movies were good, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum, but the first movie was the best by far (IMHO).

And sadly, the movie deviated from the book in numerous ways. BUT, I don't care.

Its a great film on its own, and the book series by Robert Ludlum is one of the best in its genre.

Michelle Knox (yabookstar) | 9 comments The Davinci Code by Dan Brown would be my pick. The movie was kinda rushed but I overalled enjoyed the performance.

And yes I too enjoyed the magic of Harry Potter, and even Narnia by CS Lewis as well for my fantasy picks.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 30 comments Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings... (although movie #2 pissed me off in many ways)

Now, I haven't read the books on this- but I did enjoy the Percy Jackson film. Not sure how true to the book it is.

but if we were to include romance/comedy:

The Princess Bride (I love the book and the film)

And for Horror:

Something Wicked This Way Comes
