Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
The Death And Life Of Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood
Sorry you weren't feeling well, Tien. Glad you are better now.
Another good choice this month. I have 12 books in the first 3 pages. I think I am going to go with:
The Last Song, which is a POTS book, if I don't get to it this month.
Divergent - For my One A Month Challenge in another group
and maybe
Me Before You, which I have been trying to get to. We'll see how it goes. :)
And for those looking for something to read, may I suggest If I Stay by Gayle Forman. This book is on my higly recommended reading list.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - the last book in the series.
The Partner - on my Monopoly list but skipped and took fine. Maybe I will read it for the monthly read

Karen - I had I Am Not A Serial Killer from the library at one point and had to return it unread. It looks interesting.

I liked this book more than I thought I would and actually the second book in the series, Dark Triumph, was pretty good too.
Should fit the bill nicely for the shelf as well.
I'll be reading Clockwork Angel. I enjoyed the Mortal Instruments series, but it's been over a year since I read those books, so hopefully I can enjoy this prequel without remembering all the details from the other books.

Grave Mercy was one of my favorites from last year. I have my copy of Dark Triumph, but haven't gotten to it yet. I hope to soon.

I stopped looking after page 3, because I already had too long a list.
On the Jellicoe Road and The Passage are on my POTS list.
I figure I should read The Great Gatsby before I see the movie.
And The Fault in Our Stars, Ubik, and The Pact are also on my TBR.
That looks like plenty to keep me busy.

That one sounds intriguining.

I'm new to this group and I hope I've chosen my book correctly. I went to the 'Death' link, and I've chosen The Hunger Games to read as that book is also on my TR shelf.
Let me know if I misunderstood the process.

It's really weird for me to have two current/contemporary books slated for the same month! The fact that they are both on this shelf is an odd yet happy coincidence.

I think you've got it, Julia :)
I hope you like The Hunger Games. I went to the library yesterday and saw the movie guide which prompted me to watch the movie again last night. lol

Candiss, I'm tentatively going for Life After Life too though I don't think it's contemporary? Kinda Historical / Speculative...

Oh, no...by "current/contemporary," I meant current releases, published in the past few months and currently "on the charts," in the press, etc. I very rarely read new releases, usually coming to books several years after they are first published (or many years,) and to have two recent books queued in one month is very rare. :)

oh I see! Though on GR, don't you come across a lot of New Releases that everyone is clamouring about?

Absolutely! But I have such a backed-up, guilt-inducing TBR, plus I'm involved in a number of challenges in different groups and have set books for those. As well, I don't buy new books; I only get those from the library, and there is often a very long wait list for recent titles. It just seems to work out that I'm usually reading books from the 1970s-1990s or before - catching up on good stuff I missed while too young or too busy with work and a baby or classics I never got around to, etc.

Thanks, Carolyn. It is definitely on the shelf if anyone is interested. I've added it to my TBR too though I probably won't get to it next month :)

Hi, Tien.
I'll be reading Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife, and probably Ubik.

yay! I still remember queuing up early for this book on release day, coming home to finish re-reading #6 then reading this book the rest of the day. Thank goodness, hubby went out & left me to my own devices, he he he. Had to call him when I finished reading though, needed someone to talk to, ha ha ha!
btw, I think you're posting in the wrong thread?

The movie was pretty well made though as someone who has read all 3 books, it had some snippets from books 2 & 3. It works out better that way for the movie, I reckon. It makes more sense.
I did think they did pretty fair job with the movie - around 7 out of 10 for me. It wasn't as gory as I thought it should be but considering the target audience, that was fair enough. And missing a lot of stuff - as usual.

This always seems to happen to me -- I make a perfectly good selection of things to read from the shelf, and then keep discovering others as the month goes along!
I think I'll squeeze in Cat's Cradle next, since The Verge book club has been reading that this month. And I can't imagine why no-one's shelved Lovedeath here, but I'll be reading it sometime soon for my statue book for Monopoly Zombies.
