May I ask: why did hundreds of people download your book in any case? What caught their attention?

Well, I think the cover is attention-grabbing, plus hopefully the blurb I have on Amazon grabs their interest. It's a good story, based on some family history research I've done. I'm getting mostly positive reviews on Amazon, so people must like it.

I'm an indie author, and a month ago I published a novel called "Rose Of Skibbereen". It was supposed to be selling at $4.99 on Amazon, but twice in the last two weeks they dropped the price to free and hundreds of people downloaded it. I sent many frantic emails to them, and it turns out they had my book mixed up with a short, "teaser" version of only 3 chapters that I published earlier for free. They finally put the $4.99 price back on my book, and now it's selling like crazy. It went from #156,000 to #3,400 on Amazon's best-seller list overnight. I don't know if they put my book on some kind of "book of the day" list, but I'm just happy it's selling. Has anyone else had an experience like this?
