Take care and happy reading everyone!
Ree

What do you guys think about reading one of Shiree's books for August? We'll vote before then, of course, so we have some questions for Shiree at her chat. ;)

Also, Eugenia, how are we dividing up this month's book?
Ooh, I want to read J-Pop love song. That sounded really good.
I'm in for this month! Really looking forward No Commitment Required cause it's my fave. :-D

Sorry ladies, I will not be reading this book as well. Not now at least. I didn't even get a chance to finish No Commitment Required, due to how busy I have been. When I have library books, time goes by fast. That's why I am trying my best to finish Best Of Luck. I have started it the other day and have a long way to go. I hope that I get a chance to find more Interracial books at book sales.
I definitely want Hot Pursuit by Suzanne Brockmann. Sam and Alyssa. July 28th is when the book will come out. I will settle for borrowing it from the library.
I'll have to add that to my TBR also. I just read my first Suzanne Brockmann yesterday and I loved it! Going to dive into another of hers next.

Also, Eugenia, how are we dividing up this month's book?"
I can send free ebooks for the reading group read except J-Pop Love Song that one is under publisher's restrictions. Another good thing about having Lulu to publish my books. I can do things like this without permission or such. :V

I can post the discussion threads, but I won't be much help leading the discussion. You guys should definitely chime in with your impressions or any questions or comments you have as you read though. That's how it's done, especially if you have input you want to share with other members or get their reactions to. :)
Oh okay Rae. You haven't read a Troubleshooter book yet. That's the series my Sam and Dave are in.
Yup! And since S&A are number 6 it may be a while before I get to them. I'm checking out Brockmann's early work now. Hoping to find another Jake Robinson. :-)
1. Harvard's Education: The romance is between black people. I truly believe that the heroine was Suzanne's first Alyssa Locke. If you read that story and then read the books with Alyssa in it, you will see what I am talking about. Both heroines are the best sharpshooters in the world, etc.
I have to say though that I am so happy that she created Alyssa to be with her sexy cowboy Sam.
2. Prince Joe - Team 10 Navy Seals
3. Bodyguard
4. Night Watch - Team 10 Navy Seals
5. The Kissing Game
6. Identity: Unknown - Team 10 Navy Seals
7. Undercover Princess
She has two sets of series that she writes about Navy Seals. Sam is from Navy Seal Team 16.
I have more of her older books, but I haven't gotten a chance to add them to Goodreads. They are still in a package.

Oh yes! Harvard's on Jake's team. I'll keep an eye out for the heroine in his book.
Interested in seeing your thoughts when you read the older stuff. I'd like to see if there's much of a difference (although I heard the Ten series had inklings of how awesome the Troubleshooters series would be).

Harvard's Education was really good. I was jazzed that she wrote his book. I hope she writes Jazz from Team 16's book too. I like Team 16 more than the TDD SIM Seal books. I think Suz is a great author, but her heroines usually annoy me. I think her heroine in Harvard's is my favorite by her. I like Alyssa and Teri also. I hate Kelly, Savannah, the chick in Prince Joe, Gina (sorry for her being raped, but I didn't like her before it or after), and Joan.
I think that Suzanne is going to write Jazz's story, when either he has to go on a mission to save someone or Tom has to save someone. They are best friends.
I hope she gives Jazz a believable story. I don't want to find out that Jazz been married before and his wife was killed or any other sad story. I'm sorry to say this, but I don't want Jazz to wind up with a tortured victim. A woman that has been raped, etc.
Already Murphy, the half black man, been through a lot. I don't even wan Jazz to get hurt.

I wonder what she will do with Jazz's story. I like the angsty stories so I don't mind a tortured hero/heroine. I just want him to have a good story. I've waited so long!

His book is coming.
I hope she would continue to write more about Sam and Alyssa, Dave and Sophia.

I'm not doing this month's book sorry guys. I think the discussion ..."
Boo on you Eugenia.

Can anyone help me with that?
I have a q for you guys who've read Troubleshooters. Is it okay to skip around or is it imperative to start from book 1 and work down to book 2? I'm really interested in reading book 6 & 9 but I hear there's a lot of backstory but I'm wondering if it should be read chronologically in spite of that.

You can catch up, I have no doubt, but I really don't think it will be as enjoyable without reading previous books. I didn't care much about the starring couple for just that reason. I only had references to their apparently tangled, extensive history. There was little enough development (more resolution) that it was clear this book was picking up a thread from another book.
I've started with Gone Too Far. I have never heard of Suzanne Brockmann before then. I have gone to the library and bought books one day. The interracial storyline caught my attention. After I have finished Gone Too Far, I was looking for more Sam and Alyssa. I thought that they were going to be in Flashpoint, little did I know they were in previous books.
So, maybe it's best that you start from the beginning Rae. With Unsung Hero. I have to admit, I didn't really read that book. I have only skimmed to find Sam and Alyssa's parts. Their parts are very small and they can't stand one another. Defiant Hero is the next book and Sam and Alyssa hook up, but there is tension in this book too.
You might fall in love with some of the other seals Rae.
My Troubleshooter men are:
1. Sam Starrett
2. Dave Malkoff
3. Jones
4. I like Noah, Sam's cousin. You'll read about him and Sam growing up in Gone Too Far. He's black.
5. Martel is another black man and he's funny. He's in Force of Nature and is helping his best friend Ric out. He's not Seal. An ex-cop, turned lawyer.

Thanks guys! I usually have to start from the beginning with series usually but I'm dying for books 6 and 9 lol. I'll go ahead and start with 1 so I won't be totally lost. I just found a few back stories with Team Ten that I'm working on also.
If any of those Troubleshooter men are like Jake Robinson from Team Ten, then I'm ready! :-D

I would start at the beginning. You can see the seeds of S/A's developing relationship. And the wonderfulness that is Sam Starrett when he walks into the first scene and into my heart. :)
Rae, I have a feeling that you will fall in love with Sam. You might want to beat him up, in the beginning. I have to warn you. Sam and Alyssa's relationship started off as: boy likes girl, but didn't know how to really tell her, so he fights with her. Alyssa fought back, because she liked him too.
Arch is dead on about the S/A relationship. It was so much fun (most of the time. There are some cry my eyes out moments too).
I agree with you both. Usually if I despise a guy, it's not because I harbor a secret passion for him. There was one guy I really liked, and then I stopped liking him, and I couldn't stand him after that. It has never gone the other way for me. :)

Hehe 6 year olds. Sounds interesting! I'd love to see the progression of their relationship.
I agree with you ladies, some things that work in fiction would definitely not get a pass by me in real life! But it's fun to think that all consuming question of "what if" with lit heroes. :-)

It's the fun of fiction to have the author pose a scenario, and see them get to point Z with it.
