What a great series! Enjoy

That is one series that I'm not going to read until it's complete. The books are so spaced apart that I don't want to be agonizing for the next one to come out after catching up to what he has finished. That and he's no spring chicken anymore. Anything could happen to the guy. So patiently I'll wait...

Excellent choice. One of the best (if not the best).

So then compare the book with the pie eating contest in King's The Body, and see what you think. Twain couldn't be as plain spoken as he probably would have liked to be, but I still get the feeling that King is trying to create a little piece of Mark Twain Americana.

That's probably a good choice. The books are kinda slow-paced, so it would be better to read the books in batch.

No bother, mate. It's a beauty so far! Gone was awesome

I just checked it out on Amazon and it looks great. I'm getting a copy, though I've got a few things to finish reading first.

I always do the same!

I felt the same way. A book/story for me has to connect somehow.

Hey: I just listened to the audio book a few days ago, and thought it was great... surprisingly tightly written for a story from so long ago. Also, was caught up in how limited the options were for a young woman and how really desperate things could become. Family and "money for survival" seemed to be the driving forces in every young woman's life. I guess you were damn lucky if love could ever enter into it. Obvious stuff... huh? That's what it's all about. BTW - the reading of the audio book by Joanna Lumley was really great. I searched for a reader who seemed age appropriate for the characters in the story, and she was definitely the best I could find. Great job.

We seem to have similar tastes, mate, so I reckon it's very likely. Toes Up was good, the new story and Gone were the standouts :-)

well, indeed a couple of stories seems too governmental and structured but the other stories, at least for me, it kind of shows the reactions of certain people to certain type of situations, limit situations mostly. it's like a recopilation of many short stories from many people who has been in many different situations during the war.

Maybe it's just a "little boy" thing, but I always thought that the first few pages of Cujo were the scariest thing I ever read in my life... or maybe it's scary as hell for any little kid... with a closet.
