Just finished up The Grief of Others by Leah Hager Cohen. Not sure what I will be reading next. Too many on the list!

I finished doctor sleep and it was pretty good now on to never let me go by kazuo ishiguro, I've heard good things about this one

Finishing up on Mr. Mercedes. Getting deeper into the Shadow Queen by Bertrice Small. Looking for the audiobook of Desperation, so I can take a fresh look at that one.

me too, Its been on my to read list forever. I found a copy in the goodwill store for a buck recently and decided it was a gonna be my next read

Debra: I remember thinking he did pretty well in Hearts in Atlantis... the second part.

I've fallen into a couple of traps. I've agreed to be a judge on the Cinequest Film Festival so I'm reading lots of scripts these days. Some are actually pretty good. I also found an old audio book I had called How Evan Broke His Head, a novel by the guy who wrote The Art of Racing in the Rain. Very well done but the story so far is depressing as hell. No big apocalypse, just an epileptic guy whose family has pretty much written him off. Also, on a recommendation from H, just picked up The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule... about Ted Bundy... maybe some education before I re-read Mr. Mercedes.

You have to admit that (per Debra) there's a few well done sex scenes in there... I hope.

@Nick- You will definitely like The Stranger Beside Me, I found it scarier than King, just because it's actually real, Ted Bundy was a monster

The Stranger Beside Me was über Scarey cuz it's true, I've read it a few times. I think all women should read it so they can avoid pitfalls by the freaks out here stalking innocents!

I just started Bloody Bess and the Doomsday Games by Nick Iuppa and it's really good so far. :)

I'm about halfway through Psycho by Robert Bloch. It's good!!

This may be one of those rare times when I have to ask. Does the book measures up to the movie?

Nick, so far it's not far from it, my only complaint is the way the book describes Normans appearance. Other than that it's been pretty parallel to the movie.

Thanks Jamie, the movie is one of my favorites so I guess I'd better read the book... it may also give me some more insight maybe into psycho-killers like the guy in Mr. Mercedes. Currently I'm patiently waiting for the delivery of the paperback, The Stranger Beside me... and reading scripts for Cinequest.

Yea, I loved the movie, a lot. Like I said I'm just over halfway through with it, should finish tonight if all goes as planned. I'll give my final thoughts once I'm done, but so far I do suggest it!. The Stranger Beside Me, I've heard of that before, sounds good!

So I finished Psycho, and I must say, I know seeing the movie first gave me different expectations than reading the book first would have but I normally still love the book more. However the book is extremely close to how the movie is almost identical, but I did prefer the movie.

I definitely need to rewatch it!! But I don't know about watching it alone with the lights out at midnight, haha the movie is creeptastic! I'd probably not sleep for days!!

actually none of the movies based on stephen kings novels should be watched with the lights out at midnight!! haha

This is very true! although come Halloween time when they are showing a bunch of them, that's exactly what I'll do, cuddled up with my dogs, swearing that every creek I hear is a murderer or a ghost coming for me.

I always try to read one eBook, one non fiction, and one fiction at a time. Right now I am reading... White Noise by DeLillo, Who I Am by Pete Townshend and 100 Years of Solitude by Marquez.

I have a similar system! I am always listening to one audio book in my car, reading one on my Nook and reading one actual, paper book. Sometimes it takes a long time to get through the audio book, but it’s a good system for me.

That's exactly what I do, but you're right it takes a very long time to get through the audio book if you are listening to it mostly on short drives. And if the audio book is a strong one, it can overwhelm the others. To get around that, when I'm done with the print and -books, I'll listen to the audio book in the evenings instead of starting something else. that way I get some closure.

I try to find a balance between heavy and more entertaining books. I'm also 700+ pages into Infinite Jest...but needed to put the book (and my notebook) down for a bit.

I'll never surrender my BA books for a e-reader or audio, for some ppl it works & I'm happy for them. As for myself, I'm a renaissance girl, I get so much pleasure from an actual book. It's weight, it's pages, it's scent,. Reading is a personal experience & if it is a well written flowing narrative, why then, you can't put it down... It enables you to fly....
