I'm going to be reviewing Doctor Sleep, looking forward to that big time, wondering if I should re-read The Shining first :)

I read this a while back and really liked it! I did feel that it got a little draggy in a few spots, but never to the point to lose my interest. I liked it better than Horns, but not as much as Heart Shaped Box. It's still my favorite!

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 219 comments Found a copy of Doctor Sleep at my local library this morning, so far about 150 pages in, really good.

I'm glad I never had to buy a copy of a new King book ever again in hardcover as my library has multiple copies of the book on the release date.

Thanks! I think they get the new King books because they get all the New York Times Bestsellers, and they know it will be a bestseller.

I still have yet to read Horns, but I agree, I think Heart-Shaped Box is still my favorite. Don't get me wrong, though, this is an excellent tale.

I became a huge fan after reading that one too! That book spooked me pretty bad. This one is great too, but I'm not quite as scared.

Agree the ending is also befitting which really adds to the book,I can think of a lot of modern authors who would shy away from such a bleak conclusion simply because it would sell less books.

Yeah, NOS4A2 is not scary; just very nicely "off" and a little twisted. like someone has escaped from a mental institution and is wreaking havoc...

message 393: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller Just finished 172 Hours on the Moon, which was a lot of fun and creepy. Starts off the month of October, just right.

Just started Fire and Ash last night, and it is bittersweet. I am not ready for the Rot & Ruin series to end. I guess that means, more Joe Ledger... :D

message 394: by [deleted user] (new)

I have been reading a lot of John le Carre's novels, but today I picked up a couple by Bernard Cornwell. First I will read Enemy of God, then 1356

Aditya Completed The Simple Truth The Simple Truth by David Baldacci another disappointing book by David Baldacci.I enjoyed his later books but coming back to his older books now seem like a mistake.
