Jay Howard (jay_howard) MESSAGE 1
GROUP 12 - moderator K.A. Krisko

START DATE: 01 June 2013

END DATE: 24 August 2013

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you don’t think you can manage to do 4 book reviews between these dates please let me know now. I will find someone else for this group and you will be able to choose a later group that will be more suitable for you. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. When the file is received, please post a GR link to the book in this thread so that the author has confirmation that reviewing of the correct book has started.

There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by 29 June 2013.

When you have posted your review on GR please post a link to your review in this thread.

All reviews of 3, 4 or 5 stars must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

If the rating is 1 or 2 stars, the review must be posted to GR but the author should be asked if they want the review to go to Amazon or not.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

DON’T FORGET TO POST THE LINK TO THE BOOK(S) YOU WILL BE PUTTING FORWARD FOR REVIEWING AS I REQUESTED IN MY PM TO YOU. FAILURE TO DO SO BY THE GROUP START DATE MAY RESULT IN YOU LOSING YOUR PLACE TO ANOTHER MEMBER.

In the next post are the listings for the 4 review rounds, the who reviews who stuff. You don’t have to put forward the same book for every round, but you can only ask for one review per round.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap. If you’ve registered and are not listed here, don’t worry, your turn will come soon in another group.

message 7: by Nicolas (new)

Nicolas Wilson | 75 comments Hi guys. I'm checking in. I'm including the book link for my novel, Dag, but Jay said it's OK if you want to pick whichever book of mine appeals to you most. I'm looking to get reviews on all of my short story collections and novels, so there's a good variety of material there. Thanks!

Dag

message 8: by Tim (new)

Tim (timjohnson) | 1 comments Jay.. I think I'm going to have to withdraw. I've got new twins at home and this sounds like too much of a commitment for me at this time.
Sorry.

message 9: by William (new)

William Dickerson | 7 comments Hey everyone, here's the link to my book on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... Probably the best way to get my book is via Amazon for Kindle since I'm having free days June 1-4. If you need something different, let me know.

I'm also going to add those reviewing this and those I am to review as friends to make for easier communication.

Trying again..."

The simplest way is is to use the add book/author option which shows above every new post window. I missed seeing that link for months until I asked for help on how to do it, so it's comforting to know I'm not the only unobservant GR member.

Another way is to to navigate to the book's page (click on your name to go to your own page, then click on the book link). From there you can just copy and paste the address from the address bar at the top of the window.

Thanks, William, but please remember maybe not all your reviewers will be able to pick up the book then. You can always email the mobi or other format file if needed :)

Congratulations to you and your partner, Tim. Double trouble, eh? But double joy too :) I hope you pockets are deep! Sorry you've got to leave us, but family must always come first.

message 16: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) I'm about to change the ordering of the rounds as Nic has already reviewed Amber's book (thanks for letting me know!). I'll leave Tim's place blank until I get confirmation of who will be replacing him.

Jennifer Moreland (jmoreland77) | 16 comments Hi! Checking in.

Here is the link to my book. A link to a free version in on its GoodReads page, plus it free now on Amazon (price match).

message 19: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Moreland (jmoreland77) | 16 comments Last thing: Can I offer reviewers the option of choosing one of my two short fiction pieces? Here is the other:

The World Shall Tell

message 20: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thanks, Jennifer - it is the link for the book you are putting forward for review we need now, just so everyone knows which books are on the list. And yes, it's fine to offer your reviewer a choice :)

Philip Maxwell Hi everyone,

I'm posting the Goodreads link to my book 'Inheritance: Who Do You Think You Are?' by way of acknowledging my participation in the Group.

Inheritance Who Do You Think You Are? by Philip Maxwell https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

I'll contact each of the reviewers to share the book files with them shortly and I'll wait for the authors of the books I'm to review to contact me. Hope my understanding of the process is correct!

Cheers

Gone for a Soldier

I'll also be contacting reviewers for their preferences. Thanks in advance!

message 27: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thank you Philip, Renita and Kathleen :)
We're nearly good to go. Brannon will be with us tomorrow, leaving Sandra and Alison to check in and a replacement for Tim to be confirmed. I guess they're away for the weekend, and what a cracker it's been here in Somerset. Hopefully the rain will hold off tomorrow for the Bank Holiday, but my garden will appreciate some after that. Summer's coming...

Sandra (goodreadscomsandrarector) | 69 comments Hello everybody. I'm checking in here. Here's the link for my book from goodreads. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17.... I'm a little confused about all this so hope this is okay. Sandra

message 30: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thanks Sandra and Alison.

As Brannon told me he'll be posting his link tomorrow all you're waiting for now is the last member, which I'll sort asap. If you want you can start contacting each other to get the files to each other ready for round 1. You can review as soon as you want for any of the rounds. The only limitation is reviews must be posted for each round by the individual round end date.

As Kathy is away I'll remain as your group mod for the time being, so any queries you have just post here on the thread and either I or another group member will help you out.

message 31: by Brannon (new)

Brannon | 11 comments Greetings All!

My books link is That's War

I can provide any format needed by reviewers from Smashwords. PM me when ready to review my book and I'll send you a coupon code for a free book. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

Thanks and Best wishes to all!

Brannon

message 32: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thanks, Brannon.
I find it easiest to use Smashwords too. That site's saved me a lot of messing about with formats and distributing to all the individual sites. It's also the only way for a UK author to get onto B&N as we don't have US bank accounts.

message 33: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Good news - Glyn has joined us so we're now a complete group and ready to go :)

Yeah, the main reason I decided to use Smashwords is because they distribute your book in any format and that has saved me so much time. Good to have you Glyn and hope you enjoy your round 1 read!

Glyn Smith-Wild (goodreadscomlasanctuaire) | 10 comments Hi, guys. Here are the links to my books. 'Sanctuary' is the first of the trilogy, and I suggest this choice unless you have already read it, in which case the sequel 'Repercussions' would be the one to choose. Either way, I hope you enjoy my writing.

Thank you. Just wanted to say what a well-organised review group this is:)

message 43: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Glad you think so :)

message 44: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Just a quick reminder at this point - don't forget to post all reviews to GR, any 3* and over on Amazon.com AND Amazon.co.uk (they don't feed through automatically all the time).

By agreement between author and reviewer it can also be posted to other sites as well - of course!

Lastly, if you really liked a book, don't forget to click that Like button on Amazon as that, and agreeing with tags, really help move a book up the ordering from a search. Let's help each other help readers find our work. But only if that's what you honestly feel. I can't bear this blind 'you like mine and I'll like yours' business I've seen on so many sites, GR included.

Just above this comment space there is the instruction "add book/author"--if you click on in while writing your comment, a pop-up box will ask for title or author's name and you can choose to add a link or a thumbnail of the book cover which is also a link....
Sorry if this is by now redundant.
