Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments THE COLORS OF ROYALTY MINI CHALLENGE
Duration: June 1 - June 30

Different cultures have different colors to symbolize royalty. In the West, it's purple or "royal blue." In China, it's yellow. For Aztecs, the color red was a symbol of authority.

For June's challenge, read one book for each color (purple, blue, yellow, red). The book's cover must be more than 50% that color.

(You can decide to not go for all four. Just let us know how many your goal is.)

-----

Zara will be our leader for this challenge. Thank you, Zara!

Sarah Sounds fun! Would this The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald count for Purple? I think it's more a purple than blue.

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments Hello everyone.

My apologies for not getting to this challenge earlier as I've only just now been able to get to a fast enough computer to cope with changes from one screen to another.

I have added you all. I've even decided to join you with this one.

You're welcome Sarah. I don't have a problem with you repeating the challenge if you complete all four, as long as the second time around is still completed by the 30th June 2013. I'll ask Kara for clarification though.

Note to Kara: Is it alright to repeat this challenge a second time within the month?

message 19: by Kara (new)

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Absolutely! That's completely fine. :)

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments Shelly wrote: "can Mystery by Peter Straub count as purple

I'll count it for purple Shelly. It looks like a bluey purple but then computers can make distinct colours look muted due to the way that colours are resolved on the screen

Zara's Retreat | 2365 comments Completed: 2/4

I read my first book for this challenge.

For purple: Shakespeare Stories (Top Ten) by Terry Deary
My copy of this book is very definitely purple. It doesn't look that purple on this GRs one.

I've finished a book that I think will suit the blue category.

Killer Clothes How Seemingly Innocent Clothing Choices Endanger Your Health... and How to Protect Yourself! by Anna Maria Clement

For yellow: Menopause for Dummies by Marcia L. Jones

Not sure if I'll get a 4th one in before the end of the month, but
I'll see.

Update: I just managed to sneak my final book in last night (the 30th June 2013). It was a red covered book.

The Big, Bad Book of Beasts The World's Most Curious Creatures by Michael Largo (this was a really good, quick and fun read).
