message 2: by Teryl (new)

Teryl Loved all the books in this series. I wasn't too keen on Shannon, she is the only character out of the 6 that I didn't really like.

message 3: by Laurie (new)

Laurie (ardelia27) I really enjoyed these books. Maggie was my favorite of the characters. I liked her story the most. I wasn't a big fan of Shannon either. She seemed a bit dull to me.

message 4: by Miss Kim (new)

Miss Kim (thatsmisskimtoyou) I agree with you guys. The final story with Shannon and Murphy was weak. I liked him, though.

message 5: by Amar (new)

Amar | 134 comments Ooh forgot about Shannon and Murphy...I remember reading this book thinking how can I dislike a heroine so much esp. when she is with the damn fine Murphy...poor guy!

message 6: by Laurie (new)

Laurie (ardelia27) I know! I loved Murphy but Shannon really left me cold!

message 7: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (scottswife) | 1 comments I really loved these 3 books. I feel like I got to know the characters so well, so much more than usual. I actually cried when the series was over because I wanted more.

message 8: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 41 comments So far, i've read the first two of the trilogy and i will be starting the Born in Shame book tonight. I loved the first two books but from what everyone is saying, am i going to be disappointed with the last one? I love Murphy's character and i was looking forward to him finally finding someone to love.

message 9: by Beth (new)

Beth | 16 comments I loved the first two books in the trilogy. I didn't think I was going to like book two because Brianna seemed to be such a doormat type in book one. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad all the characters are carrying over.
I just started book three and I hope I enjoy it more than some of you have. I'm only in the first few chapters and so far it's been hard for me to get into, but then the kids are up running around too so I can't really concentrate either.

message 10: by Beth (new)

Beth | 16 comments I'm sad to say I was very disappointed in this book. I got a kick out of the whole dream thing though. I found it a little farfetched that the evil mother did such a turn around but she'd already started to with the birth of her grandchildren.
Shannon's character wasn't as evolved as the rest but I suppose that's because we had two other books to learn the other characters.
I laughed and I cried but all in all it was a disappointment. The ending left something to be desired too.

message 11: by Kerri (new)

Kerri Levine | 96 comments I actually liked the third book the best. Probably because I liked Murphy the best. I thought Shannon's reactions in the beginning were realistic. Can you imagine being in her shoes? I also really liked the way she dealt with Maeve. Maggie, and especially Brianna had let her get away with her nastiness much to much for me. I liked the ending. Shannon learned that she wasn't giving anything up that she really loved but she was gaining an awful lot that she loved.

message 12: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 36 comments Reading all your guys comments, makes decide which trilogy I am reading next! :)

message 13: by Emily (new)

Emily (imabrooks2) | 81 comments I agree wi8th you on this one Kerri, I liked the third book in this series best. Murphy was my favorite hero and I thought things were handled well from Shannon's position. the other bookswere good too. I was not dissapointed at all in this series.

message 14: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellywriter) | 24 comments I haven't read the Born in trilogy. Sounds like I'm missing something.

message 15: by Beth (new)

Beth | 16 comments Kelly,
I would recommend you read it, it really is a good series!

Kelly (kellywriter) | 24 comments Beth,
It's on the list. I have to go to the library this weekend so I'll pick up the first one. I'll let you know what I think

message 17: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 55 comments I'm just 3 chapters into Born in Fire (Born In trilogy #1). I have really liked the other series she set in Ireland, so am hoping for an enjoyable trilogy.

message 18: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 36 comments This was a good trilogy but I wasn't fond of Maggie or Shannon but their stories were good. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to Ireland and see the fields so green it hurts the eyes. And the love story between Grayson and Brie were awesome. Heavy sigh. Oh for a love like that. Except for her Momma who was one bitter ole lady....jeez.

This is one of my most favorite trilogies. I agree that the Brie/Grayson story was wonderful. Maggie grew on me after a while but she could be tiresome. I gave her leeway for being incredibly talented.

message 20: by Keira (new)

Keira (keirapupp3033) | 6 comments LOL, the previous comments made me laugh a little, no offense ladies. i just love your wording and also i agree with you about Maggie. I didn't like her either but i got used to her temper and behavior when i read hers a second time.
Brianna stole my heart with her innocence and dedication to her B&B career.
Shannon's made me cry a little when Amanda told the story of how she and Tom met in IReland. I don't know why, just did. Shannon took a lot of shit from her mother and Tom infidelity and she held her chin up high and i'm proud of her.
In the end, i highly enjoyed all stories and actually just read them all a third time just last week. I might again soon- they're great entertainment and reading about them is something that i enjoy a great deal.

message 21: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 36 comments I just get carried away with my imagination and wishing I could have my own Irish story. Maybe that is why I am not married. Looking for my own Murphy. Maeve was the perfect name for the mother. Sounds like a real hagatha. Sorry to anyone else named Maeve. I have read them so many times.

message 22: by Amar (new)

Amar | 134 comments The name Maeve always reminds me of the mother in that old soap Ryan's Hope!

message 23: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 36 comments Oh yeah. Forgot about her. Wasn't that an Irish soap?

message 24: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C lol that is what I totally thought of just not too - Maeve Ryan from Ryan's Hope. I used to watch the all the time. It's re-ran (re-runned?) on SoapNet by the way. :)

message 25: by Amar (new)

Amar | 134 comments Oooh wonder if I get SoapNet on my cable...I would love to watch 80s episodes of General Hospital!

message 26: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 36 comments Is that the one with Luke and laura?

message 27: by Amar (new)

Amar | 134 comments yes!

message 28: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 36 comments I used to watch a few of them. I used to love Dark Shadows. I saw a pic of Genie Francis (Laura) and time has been good to her but def looking older. Aren't we all. The fact that I watched Dark Shadows shows my age. LOL

message 29: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 36 comments Jonette, where in Ireland are you planning to visit? I was looking at the travel websites and there are a million places. If you go, I will give you my email address and you send me lots of photos.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7084 comments Mod
My husband and I were discussing this very thing this weekend. I will not be able to do this by myself so I'm going to use my travel agent. We're the "off the beaten track" kind of people so we will probably stay in a bed and breakfast at a minimum (we did that for our trip to the Cotswolds in England and then in Scotland). I know I want to visit Dublin but beyond that, I'm open. We like to see a country through the eyes of the folks that live there so we will be visiting quite a few pubs.

message 31: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne | 36 comments that is so great. You are very lucky to do that together. My parents traveled all over Europe after they retired and loved every moment. At the time, slides were popular and they bought a ton of them. But none taken with them in it. When they passed away, we are loaded with a ton of them and have no idea where they are. You have to go to the spot where when you turn the bend, the land opens up to the greenest green ever. I believe that is from Born in Shame when Shannon first sees it. LOL

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7084 comments Mod
From what I hear, it's luscious green everywhere. What a shame your parents weren't in the pictures. It's mandatory for me when I'm traveling to have people in the photos, which annoys my photographer husband...I win.

Amar, they don't re-run General Hospital from that long ago, they only have the current ones on there. My hope is they will start All My Children over from the beginning once it goes off the air in September. (Which I am totally crestfallen over, I have watched that show my entire life - yes, even when my mom was pregnant with me, she has watched from the beginning).

message 34: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (mbryson) | 1 comments I don't know how I missed this series when I first started reading Nora in the 90's. I truly enjoyed it! I love Rogan's ability to maneuver Maggie but Gray and Brie are my favorites. I was totally bugged by Shannon's attitude. Murphy deserved a much better woman.

I've read a lot of feedback similar to yours about Shannon...I cut her a little slack because of her circumstances but not much. Loved Brie and Gray's story.

Jennifer, All my Children is the only soap I ever watched. It started when I was pregnant (with my 5th), so I figured I could get it on the ground floor with that one! I watched it faithfully until I went back to work 5 years later, and then would play 'catch'up' when I was off on break, until the only thing recognizable was Erica!

Season Gonzales (lilmami) | 27 comments I loved these books but i didnt really like Shannon but murphy was great my favorite was born in fire

message 38: by Maribel (new)

Maribel (itsmemaribel) | 64 comments Im currently re-reading Born in Ice, I re-read Born in Fire last week. Born in Ice was my favorite from this trilogy. I didn't particularly enjoy Born in Shame, and will not be re-reading that novel anytime soon.

I certainly enjoyed having Grayson fall in love with Brianna, it made it a lot better knowing he really didn't want to fall in love and that he was still in fact doing things to make himself fall even harder for Brianna. I also enjoyed how Niall and Christine formalize their relationship after so many years apart.

This was one of my favorites, too.
