This is one of my fav Nora books and a fav book in general. The romance may not be as prevalent, but I thought the story was really well done. I've read it a bunch of times and each time it sucks me in.

The plot also reminds me of another favorite "River's End".
I have this one out, waiting for me to reread it (again). As best I can remember, it's the first NR book I read and remains one of my very favorites. I was recently giving a coworker some NR recs and it made me want to read this one again. Which is good timing since every year on my birthday I pick out one of my favorite books to reread. Looks like it'll be this one this year.

There's so much I love about this book, I think it's one of Nora's best.
You feel so much for Emma and feel like you're going on the decades long journey with her.
I also love the band and how they evolved, Brian, Stevie, Johnno and PM.
And I loved the romance between Emma and Michael and Brian and Bev.

I'm currently 132 pages into my reread. And even though I've reread this book more times than I can count I'm still sucked into it. This is such a fantastically done story. Right now I'm settling into bed for some quality reading time with Emma, Michael and Devastation.
I finished my reread. I just adore this book. I'm always sad when I get to the end and don't have more to read. I almost feel like I could flip right back to the beginning and start over again.
And one of the problems I always have when I reread a fav NR book is that it makes me want to pull out another of my favs to read. Which I'm currently debating with myself about. I would so love to reread another NR fav (probably either True Betrayals or Birthright), but I've got so many new books I should be reading. *sigh*...wonder which side will win ;)

Yay Jonetta! I'm glad you liked it. I honestly think it's one of Nora's best, if not her best, IMO, so amazing and complex. I found myself wanting more from Brian's perspective, but still I loved every page.

I kind of realized who the culprit was right off, but I was completely enthralled.
I cried through several parts. And I really felt for Emma.
This novel sort of reminded me of "River's End"

Yes amazing, this title is definitely going into my re-read pile!
Yeah, I could never seem to get into this noval either, ugh! Here lately, I can never seem to enjoy/like/get into a real good story and I can't seem to figure that one out.
This story felt like it was so London-like that I kept thinkin' more about the Beatles or The Spice Girls than tryin' to figure out who the villian was or tryin' to enjoy the actual storyline. I just didn't like it so I gave up on it. I really did feel sorry for poor little ol' Emma...but it was kinda dreadful for me. And it didn't have that "wow factor" for me to really get into and continue until the bitter end, lol!

I personally loved it and how it spanned so many years, locations and character evolvement. It also had me experiencing a full range of emotions. When Emma is trapped in that bad relationship, I just wanted to scream at those around her. It's easy to see how this can happen, though, in real life.

I agree, Jonetta. this book seems different in the amount of time frames that are focused on. I really enjoyed how we got to see a substantial amount for each "era"
And yes I approve of the way her bad relationship was represented, it shows how easy it is for people to get trapped and for outsiders not to see or understand.
SOMETIMES THE BEST KEPT SECRETS ARE THE ONES EVERYBODY KNOWS...
EMMA. A frightened, lonely child, the illegitimate result of a pop music star's secret union. Until the magical day when her famous father rescues her and leads her into a very public, star-studded world of wealth and privilege.
EMMA: Happy, contented, devoted half sister to a new baby. Until the horrible night when men attempt to kidnap her brother. The night that shocks the world--and tears apart the very fabric of Emma's life.
EMMA. The overprotected child of a star, hounded by the press. Until the wonderful day when she discovers her own artistic talent and the secret fire that roars for her in the arms of a man--a fire that can burn out all too soon.
EMMA. Determined, self-sufficient career woman, her father's greatest strength. Until the chilling moment when she realizes that the darkest secret of all may be buried in her mind--a secret that someone might kill her to keep.
A novel of the passions Emma inspires--the saving love of one man ... the unremitting hatred of another.
