Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am so not creative with names! I am in Chicago and central time as well. I have played multiple rounds also!

message 8: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Great, Regina! It helps alot to have people on the team who've done this.

Twiddling thumbs, waiting for others to show up!

message 9: by Kate (new)

Kate (fictionalkate) | 478 comments Hi guys. Ive been in a few BSBs now - I love getting to meet new people and find hundreds of new books for my to-read list. I'm not that great with team names either. Will try to think of some today.

I'm in Brisbane, Australia so that's GMT + 10.

message 10: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Hi Kate!! So glad you found our team!!

We need a name and a captain. Has anyone started looking over the shelves? There are some interesting ones!

message 11: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Brisbane! Kate, we're almost in the same time zone (or maybe in the same...not sure, and not gonna look it up now!) Happy to meet you all, and so excited to play again! I love BSB!!! My stats, I'm in Japan, and one of the ones helping run stuff (though RL commitments have kept me in lurker stage for a bit). I've played all rounds cause it's just so much fun! Looking forward to reading with you, and adding onto my Mount TBR.

I have the list of team names from previous rounds, so can steer us clear of repeats. Unfortunately, no brilliant ideas for names at the moment, and hoping someone will volunteer for the captaincy! It's really not that hard. Basically, keep a list of the team reads for each shelf, and post on the stamp-thread when we've all read-reviewed-rated for a shelf. Happy to assist and answer any questions!

Link to previous team names' spreadsheet (let me know if there are any glitches!):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c...

message 12: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Hi Judithe! So glad you are on the team.

I can captain except for those two weeks in July that I will be somewhat off of GR. I will still be checking in and will get my reading done but will not be able to be responsible for anything else.

message 13: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I can help captain during that time. :)

I am good with any name -- I'd just embarrass myself if I made suggestions, lol. I can't wait to pick up new books/series and force myself (though shelf calls) to finish series I need to!

message 14: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments We can wait to meet our other teammate and then decide. But I'm okay with doing it and having Regina take over for that two week period.

And I am really bad with cute names as well. So I googled it and this is what I get:
One-hit wonder
One for the road
One over the eight
One sandwich short of a picnic
One small step for man
One stop shop
One's heart's content
One-off
One man band
One trick pony
One fell swoop
One for the road

message 15: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments I feel so late. I didn't see this until now. Hi all. This is my first time doing Bingo and I am new to the group. I will do my best.

Now for the team name. If I look at the list of names I will decide on one of them so I will avoid looking until we either decide on a name.

I feel like Regina. I will embarrass myself with my suggestions but here are some.

#1 Bombshells!

The Book Oneders

I also like the one that Leslie mentioned.

Oh and my name is Monica and I live in Pennsylvania. I am in the Eastern time zone. Excited and nervous about this challenge at the same time.

message 16: by ~Leslie~ (last edited May 30, 2013 11:47AM) (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Hi Monica - no worries about being new to this game. It's easy and fun!!

I'm kind of liking #1 Bombshells at the moment. But I'm pretty easy about any name!!

We seem to have a nice diverse team - what does everyone like to read?
Also, how competitive is everyone? Can everyone finish their book in a week? It's not necessary, but timely reading is a help.

I stay at home at the moment, so I'm on and off GR all through the day.
I read a variety of genres - though almost all are romance in some way. I read about 5 books a week all on my nook/android tablet.

message 17: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments HI Leslie!

I read just about anything. I have a ton of books on my Kindle Fire that I still haven't added to my library. I can be very competitive. I am a slow reader if the book doesn't interest me. I can finish a book in a week if I take the time to read.

I work full time so my reading is usually limited to a few minutes or hours during the day/night. Sometimes when I go to the gym I will get some reading done while using the machines. I have also been known to listen to some books to get through them. I try to get more reading done on the weekends if possible. Romances are easy for me to get through then some of the others genres.

message 18: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments That sounds good, Monica! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading.
Speed will become an issue as we move through the weeks.
And the first thing you should do is plan on reading a book to use for the Free Space. The sooner we can claim that spot the better.

message 19: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments I am looking at books for the Free Space now. I am trying to see if I have any on my shelf that I could use.

message 20: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Shelf Listing

Here is the link to search the shelves on GR. I have started looking at some of the shelves they could call and see what I have on them. So far, I'm okay, though I haven't looked at them all. Speculative fiction could be a toughie!! There is nothing I read that could fit that category!!

message 21: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments Thanks Leslie. I have found a few on the first few shelves I have looked at. Now it is just making sure that I have the actual books and not something I am just wishing to read.

message 22: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments I have gone through all the shelves. It feels like I'm seeing the same books over and over. I'm sure that's not true - just feels like it!
I've never figured out how to use the search feature on the shelves page, so I'm looking through page after page to find books. But no worries, I always find something.

Team, once you find a book that you will read for Free Space if you will go ahead and post it on the the thread, that would be awesome. I will probably wait to decide until after the shelf is called on Sunday.
Can't wait!!

message 23: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments So have we decided on a captain or captains and a team name yet?

Leslie I felt the same way when looking through some of the shelves. I found Harry Potter on a few of them. I have read them all many times. Still going through the shelves.

I think I will wait to decide on my free space book too. Plus I have to see if I actually have the book or if my library will have it available too.

message 24: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Monica, glad you said that. I wasn't sure if I was just hallucinating. It looked like a lot of YA, which is not my favorite genre.

And still waiting to hear back from other teammates on name for group and final decision on captain.

message 25: by Kate (new)

Kate (fictionalkate) | 478 comments I'm good with Leslie (and Regina) being team captain.

As for the name, I love the name One Hit Wonders.. but hopefully we're not going to only be successful once and then disappear into obscurity.

#1 Bombshells is a great name.

I moved recently and just this morning my new library card arrived in the mail - I think it's a sign that I'm all prepared for this round's bingo :D

message 26: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments One Hit Wonders is cute as well! And I'm so glad your library arrived! I would be so excited! How many boxes?
And I am happy to do captain duties and have Regina take over while I'm busy with wedding stuff.
Y'all will have to forgive me if I begin to get a little obsessed with it. I might even have to post a picture or two!!

message 27: by Kate (new)

Kate (fictionalkate) | 478 comments I love weddings! Congratulations on being mother of the groom :)

message 28: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Thanks! My oldest will be getting married the following spring, so I guess this is practice. I have 3 girls and a boy - so I'm glad my first wedding is the easy one LOL!

message 29: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Much as I like that name idea, there was a R2 team named the ONEders...different enough?

Cheers for the captain, and say hooray Leslie (and Regina!), and sure we'll all make it easy as possible on you! And looking forward to wedding pics, Leslie!

message 30: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Good morning team!!

And thanks for the vote of confidence to be captain! I think we are going to have a great team so it will be very easy.

I think there is enough difference in the two names, but my opinion only. I have no affinity for any of them.

Why don't we put names to a vote: This is what we have so far (please add more if you think of one!)

One Hit Wonders
#1 Bombshells

I'll vote for Bombshells, because if makes me happy.

message 31: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments Leslie glad to see you and Regina are captains. You guys will do great.

I like both. The One Hit Wonders makes me think of a movie about a band called the Oneders and people pronounced it as Long Okneeders. It is a pretty good movie.

What ever is decided will be fine with me.

message 32: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Thanks, Monica! We just need a few more to check in and say what they want and I will let Steph know.

message 33: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I like both, but will go with Bombshells.

message 34: by Kate (new)

Kate (fictionalkate) | 478 comments I'm fine with Bombshells too :-)

message 35: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Okay, #1 Bombshells it is! We are set to go! Now comes the wait for Sunday!!

I'm excited!! Great job, Team!!

message 36: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments And "Sunday" is only 24 hours away...this time tomorrow, we will have our shelf!

message 37: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments I can't wait for this. I am going to find a book for the free space as soon as I can.

message 38: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments I just need to find a book that won't be on any of the shelves. Probably a historical romance or something.

message 39: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited May 31, 2013 10:32PM) (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Just remember Leslie, it has to comply with the Free Space rules. Probably not too many historicals do ;)

Free Space Rules

message 40: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (last edited May 31, 2013 10:50PM) (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Oh...I was thinking to do the bookshelves, but found something better! Three more days to Heart of Obsidian (Psy-Changeling, #12) by Nalini Singh ...as soon as it hits my reader (pre-order, did the one that's a wee bit more expensive cause it's two days earlier!), that's what I'm doing. Will not be able to wait for a shelf it's on....

ETA: Forgot to say, that's for my Free Space read!

message 41: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Thanks, Sandra! Totally forgot about those rules for Free Space. Haven't played this in a while!

And Judith, I am trying to decide if I'm getting that book this month or next. I may have to pick it for my free space as well! I love that series.

message 42: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Okay, after looking through all the lists I will be reading Wicked Road to Hell (League of Guardians, #1) by Juliana Stone as my Free Space book.

message 43: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments Okay I think I may have found a book for my free space. It is either going to be:

A Hunger Like No Other which is number 2 in Immortals after dark.

or

Kiss of a Demon King number 6 in Immortals after dark.

I haven't read the first book so I have a question for anyone that may have read or is reading this series. Do I need to start with the first in this series? I own both these books and no I can start them ASAP. But just want to make sure that I don't need to read the series in order for it to make sense.

Thanks.

message 44: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments The first book is a novella, which is often free. And whilst important isn't a requirement to read #2 Hunger. I wouldn't read Kiss of a Demon King out of order.

This series really needs to be read in order to get the most out of it. Things that happen are frequently mentioned in subsequent books.

message 45: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments Thanks Sandra. I will have to see if I can find the books at my library since these were given to me I don't want to spend money if it isn't something I really want to keep.

I did find another book to read for the Free Space.

All Together Dead I am up to this book in the series so I may as well read it so I can maybe finish the series.

message 46: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Hunger is one of my fav books and I can safely recommend you start with that one.

Check out KC's website and see if Warlord is free at the moment if you want.

message 47: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments Well The Warlord Wants is available for .99 on Amazon Kindle so I am going to buy it just so that I can read it for another challenge and then use the others for the Bingo if needed.

message 48: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yay! LOL

message 49: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments G'mornin! Our shelves are up. Week 1 is assassins...which actually suits my mood quite well!
