Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

Just a reminder that Amazon Prime members can download a FREE copy of A Lesion of Dissent by going to the Amazon website. My best to you for 2023!

Which is a Finnish book about the author speculating the future of North Korea. Will it fall?
Who knows why I picked it up, guess we'll see of I can get through it
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah and also reading The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Can we all agree that book titles such as Sword and Fire, Fire and Tide, Fire and Ice, Ice and Wind etc. .. are way overused? I have stopped bothering to read new books with these lazy titles. Let's leave this trend in 2022. New year...let's see some books with titles that are just a wee bit more creative.

Happy Saturday, DAWN!

This book was not at all what I thought it was going to be. It is one of the few book I select because i think it sounds interesting that I end up hating. I found it pretentious and preachy and not at all my cup of tea. Your mileage may vary...I know a lot of people liked this book.

Thanks for your thoughts. When I first heard of this book, I rejected it as a book I'd want to read, but a friend brought it to me, so I've decided to give it a try. I've only read a tiny bit, and the jury is still out...

I really liked that book!
I gave up on The Midnight Library - not my cup of tea.
Now I'm reading Lucy By the Sea by Elizabeth Strout and love it!

I thought this book presented ideas to argue about. Doesn't every adult have moments in his or her life that are regrettable or wonder what would have happened if they'd chosen another path. Nevertheless, I found it poorly written and your criticisms apt. We're discussing this book in our book club next month and I'm looking forward to hear what people say about it.

I'm sure most readers will like it-- I suspect I went into reading it with a misconception as to what it would be. I just don't like books that preach to you about how to live your life or what to expect from life and about how hindsight although it may be 20/20 can't change where you are in life. It just seemed to me to be a supposed "self help" book which I don't read or care for.

Thank you for asking, Dale, but I am not much of a reviewer, and have way too many books to read already.
Best wishes to you!
