Fred Gracely | 3 comments Zoe wrote: "I'm reading 'The Alchemist' by Paul Coelho. It's about a young boy's journey through life. It's a very good read." I found this book fascinating! Such a unique story. I don't think it will be for everyone, but I was drawn to its charm. Some of the wisdom in it I find profound, but some of it I find worrisome, like "You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his destiny." I'm not sure about that gem. Worth the read, though.

Rachel (arkinandco) | 17 comments East of Eden

When reading this classic which was wrttten in 1952, the style of writing is so completely different than current styles. There are different characters that we read about but there are no chapters from their point of view. We have the omniscient narrator and the style is completely straightforward. I am enjoying it.
