I really liked The Goldfinch. I do wish it was a little more hopeful, but the writing was beautiful and mesmerizing. I couldn't put it down!

I absolutely loved this mess of a book! Pure perfection. Fell in love with the narrator, and his entire family, while they sat shiva in remembrance of Mort Foxman, the patriarch of the Foxman clan.

Angela M Lela , it took me a little over three days to read the above book . I usually can get in only about 100 pages a day .I just try to read when I can - evening and sometimes early morning . Once in a while I have free time in the afternoon but not usually !
Maybe I've been reading shorter books so you think I'm reading a lot - lol !

Bainbridge Island, Washington; a hidden red velvet journal; love triangles; and a family that will be changed forever sets the stage for this novel. Didn't quite take it all the way for me but a fun, enjoyable read.

Lela (lacslc) | 191 comments Today I finished "Not My Father's Son" by Alan Cumming - he of Masterpiece Mystery and the stage show, "Cabaret." It's a good, quick read. Alan's childhood was hell. This book tells that story & his coming to terms with that hell & the devil who brought it. 4 solid stars.

This is one of my 'all' time favorite books!! I Hope you're enjoying it and enjoy all of it!! Loved it so much :)

South of Reason by Kendi Thompson and
Quit or Die Trying by Alison Beard

Reading 'really' slow this week because I don't feel well, but what I've read so far is awesome :) Especially "Fifty Mice"!!

Just started The Mapmaker's Children: A Novel, another advance copy. I really liked Sarah McCoy's The Baker's Daughter so I'm hopeful that I will enjoy her writing with this one as well.
