Yes, I've re-read a couple of classics for bookclub meetings and was surprised at how much more there is to the story than I realized as a child. I'm always amazed at how much I missed when I read the book the first time. :-)

Not familiar with this novel at all. I looked it up & it has 80% positive reviews. This isn't the type of book I normally read but I'm going to give it a go. Many thanks Gail :-)

message 1157: by Lela (new)

Lela (lacslc) | 191 comments Not a classic - but - taken from one. I'm reading '"Mr Timothy" about the young man Tiny Tim grew to be. Very interesting. The book starts 10 days before Christmas unlike its ancestor which began on Christmas Eve. Really good writing about the Victorian age.

May (mayzie) | 589 comments Lela, I'm fascinated. Are you enjoying this book? The Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmad story. Please keep us posted!!

message 1159: by Lela (new)

Britany | 921 comments Finished Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult by Jodi Picoult-- 3 Stars!!

Another solid read by Picoult. Tackles some difficult civil rights issues, in a way where Picoult presents cases for both sides and puts the reader right in the middle.

message 1193: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (granniepurpyl) Tried so hard to read The Piano Tuner for a book club meeting tomorrow morning. I just couldn't do it. It was well-written, but the story didn't move along fast enough for me. Losing patience as I age, I guess. I skipped to the last three chapters so that I at least know the outcome.

Started The Goldfinch for a different club. Wish me luck. I know it's a long one!
