Tomi Wright (tomiwright) | 2 comments I just finished Sycamore Row by John Grisham. Sycamore Row by John Grisham

It's about another sensational trial involving the lawyer from A Time to Kill.
I was skeptical after the first 1/4 or so, but it had some nice twists and characterizations that kept me entertained. I give it 4 stars.

Aida Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Writing style and character development so far not as good as Purple Hibicus. Still early into book; hoping it gets better.

Angela Ross Williams (cdlady) | 28 comments I just finished, in breakneck speed, 'Lethal' by Sandra Brown. Wow is all I can say!! This was the kind of writing that makes you miss The Incredible Dr Pol, and who can miss him??!! A must read.

message 1661: by Angela (new)

Angela Ross Williams (cdlady) | 28 comments Now starting the next book in the Sugarcreek Amish Mystery Series, Where Hope Dwells. Hoping this #2 of the 3 books in this series is as suspenseful as the first book of the series.

message 1662: by Lela (new)

Lela (lacslc) | 191 comments I finished "Hard Fall" by.P.T. Reade. A very good mystery of the old school - hard boiled detective. A difference, though, as he is a former NYC cop in London because his wife & son were murdered there when they moved to London ahead of him for her new job. It even ends with a twist that makes you want more. So, now I'n reading the 2nd book in the series, "Snow Burn." It's looking good so far!

message 1664: by Lilo (new)

Lilo (liloh-p) I am currently reading the satirical classic "It Can't Happen Here", by Sinclair Lewis. Looks like some of our present presidential candidates are reincarnations of some of the characters in this book.

I'll let you guess which ones.

Wow- powerful book dealing with a tough subject matter- PTSD and how it effects every single person in your life. Tragic events lead to a tough read, but offered in a way that makes me think I won't easily forget this one...

message 1677: by Liz (new)

Liz (LizMax) | 6 comments I just finished the most interesting book, Dirty Secrets of the World's Worst Employee. It follows the author - an aspiring writer- from one job to the next, highlighting all of the entertaining and educational moments along her journey. I found it especially enlightening, because I hadn't realized that gender inequality and sexual harassment are still so prevalent in modern society. This book made me laugh, cry, and think, which is more than I can ask of any book.
