Britany | 921 comments Finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot by Rebecca Skloot- 4 Stars!!

Powerful true story about one woman's journey to immortality using her cancerous cells- taken without her permission. In my opinion, one that everyone MUST read!

5 stars! Wow. I will read your review & probably add it! I always do. I've read too many books about WWII lately. Need a break so am reading Alexander McCall Smith's latest lady detective book for charming relief!

message 1710: by Angela M (new)

Angela M Lela , I know what you mean . I read a lot of them too and need a break sometimes. This was very good - from the perspective of children.

Britany | 921 comments Finished Voyager (Outlander, #3) by Diana Gabaldon by Diana Gabaldon- 3 Stars.

The third book in the Outlander series left me excited and then bored. Felt a little too long, and I think I will take a break before starting the next book.

message 1713: by May (new)

May (mayzie) | 589 comments I agree. Her books can be a demanding read. Something lighter in between helps.

message 1714: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 45 comments Read Summer Secrets Summer Secrets by Jane Green - a lighter read, but with some serious issues addressed - namely how to pick up your life after years of alcohol abuse and how to continue on, no matter what life throws at you. A worthy read.

Now reading The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes by Anna McPartlin The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes.

Lilijana ᓚᘏᗢ Hi! I'm reading "Before I Fall" by Lauren Oliver and "How to Win Friends and Influence Other People" by Dale Carnegie.

message 1721: by Lela (new)

Lela (lacslc) | 191 comments Finished "A Stop on the Journey from Auschweitz." This is a hard book to read. I had to put it down & read something else for awhile several times. I would feel my blood pressure rising and know it was time to take a break. But, having said that, I still recommend it. A thorough look at how the German policy of Jewish annihilation ruined people and their lives. The format annoyed me a bit but I finally learned to accept it as a good way to tell a story.

message 1722: by May (new)

May (mayzie) | 589 comments Just finished "Radiant Angel" by Nelson DeMille. The premise is seriously scary if you think about it!!Although I am glad I read it, it is not my favorite Nelson DeMille.

message 1724: by Sophia (new)

Sophia Labonté | 1 comments "But Not The Hippopotamus" about 50 times a day, and though I love Sandra Boyton and give her 5 stars, I wouldn't mind if my toddler mixed it up with some Dr. Seuss now and then :p

Nonetheless, my curiosity has been piqued by many of the adult recommendations here. Thank you for sharing!!

Lynea (lilbuffylyn) | 2 comments I'm not too sure if I'm at the right place to ask this questions.. but I'm looking for people that have read William Faulkner books. I haven't read any of his books, I'm interested in reading them but heard you have to read them in a certain order (not the order they were published)to understand them. Does anyone know the order his books should be read and what's the great mystery of William Faulkner's writing ?

message 1748: by Lela (new)

Lela (lacslc) | 191 comments Mimi, take a look at The Son. It has both history of the West & more recent events. A great saga is The Stonecutter - again historical but more recent.
