The Mystery, Crime, and Thriller Group discussion

Huge Mystery and Crime reader. Thrillers - not so much usually. I love to follow along in a series and have to start at the beginning or not at all. Some of my favorite series at the moment are Bernie Gunther, The Last Policeman, anything by Adrian McKinty, Paul Doiron and the Thorn series. I just finished the Charlie Hardie series by Duane Swierczynski, which was delicious as usual. His book The Blonde remains one of my favorite crime/mystery/thriller books.

Welcome to the group, Jonathan. I hope you enjoy the discussions. I must say your list of authors are all new to me and I think I'm pretty well-read when it comes to the mystery genre. Goes to show you how many excellent writers there are out there.

Oh, you really have to read Philip Kerr's Bernie Gunther series, especially. Start with Berlin Noir, which collects the masterful first 3 books - March Violets / The Pale Criminal / A German Requiem. Then, many years later, Kerr revisited Bernie and has written 5 more, with a 6th coming soon. All range from good to excellent.

The series is on my to-read list, Jonathan. Thanks for recommending. Sounds fascinating!
