Jessica what were the causes of cuba's severe economic problems in the 1990's? What measures did cuba adopt to try to resolvwe them? To what extent have these measures been successful? What extent have the developments of the last decade compromised the original ideal fo the cuban revolution?

Jessica Explain why there has been a populist resurgence in Latin America since the late 1990s. To give full explanation of this phenomenon, you will need to discuss developments in the region since the early 1980s. Please remember to cite specific examples fo developments in your answer.

Andrew-Mario Hart-Grana Hi Jessica. Cuba suffered in the 1990s because of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Ever since, there has been a turn towards open-market economy but it is only gradual and without any impact on the island's political life (which largely remains around the Communist party). It may be the case that Cuba's ruling party is looking at China as an example to follow. Without oil, they have become closer to Chavez (Venezuela has plenty). Before the 1990s, their oil was coming from the USSR.

I think this is a good example on how communism does not work.
