Time to nominate your additional monthly reads for August and it's back to the norm ....

These nominations are open to any book; you can keep with the Goodreads Choice Awards theme and nominate a runner up, or just nominate your favourite book, or a book that's been on your TBR pile for ages.

- When nominating please make sure you include the book link or book cover link. This can be done by clicking on the ' add book / author' link above the comment box.
Your nomination will not count if not in this format.

- Please refrain from nominating any book that is already scheduled to read as part of the Goodreads Choice Award Book Club. These can be found at http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...

- Please do not nominate a second (or later) book in a series read (as members of the group may not have read the previous books).
Your nomination will be not be counted if you do.

- Only one nomination per person will be accepted (if more than one is nominated, the first book posted will be accepted).

- Nominations will close on Sunday 23rd June, and will be followed by a poll.

--------
Nominated so far:
The Seeds of a Daisy
The Orphan Master's Son
The Rosie Project
The Sea of Tranquility
The Bling Ring: How a Gang of Fame-Obsessed Teens Ripped Off Hollywood and Shocked the World
The Ocean at the End of the Lane
Hounded

I think I'll nominate The Seeds of a Daisy.

message 3: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments I shall give my same speech again. I nominate The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson . I think it would be a great book for discussion and raise a lot of awareness about North Korea - which many of us are ignorant to. The author was actually let into the country - a rarity. And it was the winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for fiction people!!! Yes I am passionate about this and want to share it with the group:)

Brightness (brightnessreads) | 429 comments I second Sarah

The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson

I bought it at the beach but didn't get to it before leaving.

Absolutely!

message 9: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I think I won't nominated this time, as I already have difficulty with choosing one book, and we have just three options LOL. Another difficult choice to make :D

message 10: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments You beat me to it Lynn!! So I'm not going to nominate for August...I'm just going to vote for that!!

Jenn S. (Book Buzz) (jennsbookbuzz) | 64 comments I would like to nominateThe Sea of Tranquility
This book has gotten amazing reviews and it will count towards our Choice Awards book challenge!

message 12: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Kristie, I just won a signed copy of The Seeds of A Daisy and I noticed you won a copy in a FirstReads Giveaway. If it doesn't win I'll do a buddy read with you :-)

The Rosie Project is funny and a very good light read.

Which challenge are you referring to?

message 14: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6820 comments Mod
Congrats Cathie. :) Yes, I actually won a signed copy from a giveaway she did in another book club. I'm very excited to read it as it has gotten great reviews. Have you received your copy yet? I'd love to set up a buddy read if it doesn't win.

This is going to be another tough choice month! I can tell already.

Joanne - Sea of Tranquility was a nominee for YA Fiction in the 2012 Goodreads Choice Awards so it would count towards our Goodreads Choice Awards challenge.

message 16: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I won my from Chicks on Lit. You? Did you see that Fiction Fanatics has it listed as one of the July nomination reads?

message 17: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6820 comments Mod
I won mine from The Perks of Being A Book Addict. I did see that! It is in first place right now for the July read. It was also chosen as the BOTM for my Perks group for June. It seems to be making the rounds and has a rating of 4.6 right now, so I thought I'd suggest it. :)

message 18: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Yeah it's got really good reviews. Bookworm Bitches also has it as one of their BOTMs for this month.

message 22: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I finished Seeds of a Daisy and it is an excellent story. The author is in the middle of writing the sequel and is also forming thoughts around a prequel to this story so I would recommend it as a kick start of more to come :-)

message 23: by Tanya (new)

Tanya The Bling Ring How a Gang of Fame-Obsessed Teens Ripped Off Hollywood and Shocked the World by Nancy Jo Sales

Here's my nomination.

Glad someone else decided to nominate a book. I was beginning to think we were only going to have four books to vote on. I always thought people read more in the summer (beach reading and all), but it is so quiet here that I'm thinking a lot of people may take the summer off and pick up more reading in the fall. Too busy in the summer, I guess.

All good choices, I think. :)

message 27: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Well, Kristie, I think the opposite, the choice was difficult before, now it is even more difficult LOL

message 28: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6820 comments Mod
Hahaha...hadn't thought of that Anima! Like I said, all good choices. :) I always end up adding extra books to my TBR list.

message 29: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments The Ocean at the End of the Lane The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman . It's been getting rave reveiws :-)

message 30: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Oh, Cathie, thank you for that nomination, now I know what to vote on :D

Kristie, I totally agree, my TBR list grows mainly due to recommendations and nominations for the group reads :)

message 31: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6820 comments Mod
lol Anima! So glad Cathie didn't make your choice more difficult! ;)

Looking forward to voting tomorrow, though I'm still not sure what I'm voting for! I really want to read my nomination, but there's a couple others that I'd really like to read (and already have in my TBR) too. I'll be watching the "battle of the books" closely!

Nominations are now closed. A poll will follow shortly (as long as I can sort it on this Kindle with limited WiFi from the bar ..... if not it will be tomorrow when I'm back home in the UK)

Vanessa kindly did the poll for me (to save me pulling out my hair with frustration) and it can be found here: http://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/86...
