Farrah I've been looking for this book for months and I can't find it. It's a book that I had on my to-read list and, when I was clearing out my shelf, I accidentally deleted it and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It was a sleeping beauty retelling, but the heroine was the princess's handmaiden, not the princess. The handmaiden goes on a quest to help her friend, along with a guy (he might have been a knight). And they both have to find a way to wake the princess up. I know the description is a little vague, but that's all I can remember.

Does anyone know this book?
Thank you so much!

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 82 comments It sounds familiar... but are you sure it was Sleeping Beauty? I remember one from when I was a teenager, and they were rescuing Snow White... Can't remember the name of it, though.

My favorite Sleeping Beauty adaptation is Briar Rose by Jane Yolen a unique blending that didn't feel so much like a rip-off, as a lot of the stories do. It was really dark, too, which so many of the modern adaptations lose the darkness of the original tale, you know?

Sorry I wasn't more help!

I think it was sleeping beauty. It was a fairly recent book. I think it came out a year or two ago. Oh well, I'll keep looking.
Briar Rose sounds like a great read though. Thanks for the recommendation :)

I did find it, finally. You have no idea how satisfying it was to finally find it after trying to remember it for months. It's Slumber by Samantha Young. I finally got to read it and it was SO good! Hope you get the chance to read it and like it as much as I did :)

Yeah, I found the book and the author was Samantha Young. This was one of her earlier books, her first release, if I remember correctly.
