Romance Lovers for the Challenge-Impaired discussion

There is a book series that I can't for the life of me remember the name of, but I want to revisit. In the first book, Dak (?) is possessed by a daemon, which manifests itself as a snake on his body, and there's a daemon that takes over a bunch of stone statues in the town. In the subsequent books, more men (drool) come to the town, portals are found in Shaska Mountain, there's a lost world in the mountain (or accessible through the mountain), oracles, more daemons, etc.

Any help?
