Bitten
question
Bitten vs. Stray?

Okay, so I just read a synopsis of this book, and it reminded me forcefully of a book called Stray by Rachel Vincent. I've read Stray, but not Bitten, and I was wondering if there was anyone out there who'd read both, and could tell me if Stray (2007) is, essentially a re-write of Bitten (2004).
Stray is about a female were-cat, one of the last female were-cats of breeding age. She's called home from being an independent university woman to help her pride deal with a stray (feral/non-pride were-cats) problem.
From the synopsis I read, there are many point-by-point similarities between the two books. I'm just wondering if anyone else had noticed this, and if Bitten is still worth the read. (I enjoyed Stray, for the most part)

Ive read both, I hated Stray with a passion; Bitten was good, though not exactly a 5 star book. I'd give it 3 or 4 stars :) x
I've read both but it was awhile ago so I can't recall all the details of how they were similar other than the overall plot. I read Bitten first and liked it quite a bit better than Stray however. I read on in the Women of the Underworld series whereas I never read any further in the Stray series. Ultimately it came down to me liking Elena as a heroine better than Faith.
I love both books, and other than a few small character issues (Both female leads are strong women, but have insecurities and issues) -- I dont find them similar at all (with the exception of that they both are "were" animals.) Kelley and Rachel both have different writing styles. I adore characters in both books and devoured both series. I highly recommend reading both series.
Stray is on my "to read" list, but I haven't yet given it a chance. Bitten is awesome, as is the entire "Otherworld" series from Kelley Armstrong. I highly recommend.
I read both books last year. I really liked both lead female characters. They were the same in that they were both shifters trying to control their own destiny, and they had some emotional issues with the men in their lives. Otherwise, very different stories. Did not continue reading with either series.
I like Bitten better, but there are books in the Otherworld series I like even better.
I enjoyed the different writing styles & devoured both series.

There I s no comparison stray was readable but the otherworld books are amazing!!!!!!!! They are on my top 10 favorite books list. Better writing style better characters better world!
I'd also have to go with bitten. Kelley Armstrong's werewolves are just brilliant. Bitten was written as a stand alone novel but it will leave you wanting more.
Only read the second book of Vincent's series, "Rogue".
Didn't like it much, mostly for the sexualised violence which to my understanding plays also a key part in the first book, including rape of a minor.
I guess if you don't mind that it's, uhm, entertaining enough.
Personally I prefer Armstrong's writing by far.
