Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments So, we've got the big TV we had in Nigeria here in the flat. We're thinking of setting it up but it doesn't have inbuilt free view so we'd have to get a box.

Which should we get?

If we went Freesat we'd have to get a dish installed, yes? If so, it's not worth the hassle.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh and if we set up the big TV, we'd have the 32 inch Samsung to get rid of cheap, if anyone wants it.

Andy Elliott | 1446 comments For Freesat, yes you need a dish. So you're best just buying the cheapest Freeview box that Tesco et al sell.

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 2467 comments And you still won't find anything worth watching ...

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, suppose so.

Don't they do some sort of a box that lets you record stuff?

We could set it to record stuff when we're out of the country?

Hmmm. But we'd have to know about the shows and set it to record before we left.

And we'd have to leave it plugged in, which isn't really a good idea...

The only way to get around this would be to get a DVR that you can remote record with (similar to how TiVo and Sky+ work). However to do this it needs a broadband connection. All of the time.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh. Not gonna pay for broadband.

Thanks for the help guys. :)

Is this what we would need?

That'll do.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Cool.

It's the cheapest one at Argos. ;)

I'll check tescos as well.

I'm a tight bugger.

So who wants the Samsung then?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've reserved one as I doubt I'll find one cheaper.

That one has good reviews.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks again!

It's tiny! Not HD though; is that likely to be a problem?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh.

Don't think the big tv is HD, so I suppose not?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Funny to think of a 32 inch TV as 'small', isn't it?

My first tv was an 8 inch black n white job!

Vanessa (aka Dumbo) (vanessaakadumbo) | 8459 comments Patti, check that you can get freeview in your area. Some places don't get it or only some of the channels. You've got more choice on freesat but they don't have the Dave channel.
I was lucky as there was a dish here already. Don't know how much it is to get one and fix it up.

Ah, just seen you've bought a freeview box. Did you check your area for reception?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks Ness.

We've already got freeview on the small tv. Works well here.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Well, that didn't work.

The big telly doesn't have a scart connection.

Bugger.
