So, we've got the big TV we had in Nigeria here in the flat. We're thinking of setting it up but it doesn't have inbuilt free view so we'd have to get a box.

Which should we get?

If we went Freesat we'd have to get a dish installed, yes? If so, it's not worth the hassle.

Oh and if we set up the big TV, we'd have the 32 inch Samsung to get rid of cheap, if anyone wants it.

For Freesat, yes you need a dish. So you're best just buying the cheapest Freeview box that Tesco et al sell.

And you still won't find anything worth watching ...

Don't they do some sort of a box that lets you record stuff?

We could set it to record stuff when we're out of the country?

Hmmm. But we'd have to know about the shows and set it to record before we left.

And we'd have to leave it plugged in, which isn't really a good idea...

The only way to get around this would be to get a DVR that you can remote record with (similar to how TiVo and Sky+ work). However to do this it needs a broadband connection. All of the time.

Oh. Not gonna pay for broadband.

Patti, check that you can get freeview in your area. Some places don't get it or only some of the channels. You've got more choice on freesat but they don't have the Dave channel.
I was lucky as there was a dish here already. Don't know how much it is to get one and fix it up.

Ah, just seen you've bought a freeview box. Did you check your area for reception?

We've already got freeview on the small tv. Works well here.
