Riya After finishing my school summer-reading books, I went on a bit of a reread craze... There are a couple of series that I hadn't finished, so I thought I'd reread the earlier books before continuing- so the next 3 book are ALL rereads :D

message 52: by Riya (new)

Riya First, I read The Maze Runner. I read it a couple years ago, and instantly fell in love with it. The concept is super unique, and it's really confusing without getting frustrating. There's so much action, and it was easy to become invested in the main character. I'm definitely glad I reread this one!!! My glad review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Riya Next, I read the sequel to this book, The Scorch Trials. Sadly, this one just didn't live up to my insanely high expectations. I had just fallen in love with The Maze Runner for the second time, so jumping right into this one again didn't work out. I found it interesting, and fast paced as usual, but I also got irritated. Especially with the only 2 female characters- Brenda and Teresa. If those two had simply been omitted from the book, I would've like it a lot more. My still excited review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 54: by Riya (new)

Riya My last reread was The Red Pyramid. This one was just what I expected. As usual, it was super funny and involved the gods- nothing less than what I expect from Rick Riordan!!! The plot never relented, and most of the characters were awesome- especially Carter, Bast, Zia, and Anubis. The supporting characters like Amos, Khufu, Horus, and Isis were also fantastic. Other than the super annoying Sadie, I had no problems with this book!! My happy review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 55: by Riya (new)

Riya Then I read a book that I've been meaning to read for awhile, Shatter Me. I don't think I'll ever really understand how I feel about this book. It took me a day to read and I was super gripped by it, but when I look back I don't really understand why...And characters are my favorite parts of books, but I never loved any of the characters in here...and there was a dreaded love triangle!!! Ugh...Anyways, this was still a great book and you can find my conflicted review here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 56: by Riya (new)

Riya Aaahhh- I'm so behind on my reviewing!! It took me AGES to write my review for Shatter Me, so now I'm a couple books behind and it's killing me! I think tomorrow I'll just sit down and write both reviews, so hopefully that will mean 2 more posts in here then :)

message 57: by Riya (last edited Sep 06, 2013 07:12PM) (new)

Riya Well, I've read 6 books since my last post :/ But I only have a review written for one of them!!! AAAHHH. The book with the review is The Transfer: A Divergent Story. This was a short story by Veronica Roth. It essentially made me excited for Allegiant again!!!! And I remember why I loved Divergent so much! My really tiny review is here.

message 58: by Riya (new)

Riya I also read I Am the Messenger. I didn't write a review because it's one of my all time favorite books right now, so it's too good for my reviewing :P Anyways, I jsut loved it because it showed me the beauty of the simple things in life. I think this quote encompasses what I got out of the book:
Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.

message 59: by Riya (new)

Riya Also not writing a review for The Scorpio Races since it was another AMAZING one. This one just made me feel super content inside. Sean and his passion just blew my mind completely. Just a great read.

message 60: by Riya (new)

Riya And not writing one for A Thousand Splendid Suns since it was super sad. There were a couple twists that totally surprised me. My favorite part of this book had to be seeing all the characters. I didn't like them a lot of the time, but they were super interesting and they all developed so much as people- it was fascinating. The ending though, that was just perfect....

message 61: by Riya (new)

Riya So I've got three reviews in the making, and hopefully all of those will be up within the week. And once I finish those I'll probably finish another book to write one for!!!! Hopefully I'll get those done soon!! SO MANY BOOKS :D

message 62: by Trinity (new)

Trinity Good luck Riya :)

message 73: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Happy Thursday to you, Riya!

It's been a couple days, so I thought I'd drop by and wish you well. What are you reading now?

message 74: by Riya (new)

Riya Haha thanks Dustin! It has been awhile, but my week has been going by so quickly. Wow- can't believe tomorrow's Friday! I'm currently reading Monument 14 and Days of Blood & Starlight- both for some buddy reads my friends asked me to do. I think I'll be getting Game of Thrones this weekend!! How about you Dustin? You have a good week?

message 75: by Dustin (new)

Dustin You are so welcome, my friend! I know, right? And now it's Saturday afternoon already! I'm glad you had a good week. Are you enjoying your buddy reads? Yay, I am very happy to hear this! I can't wait to read about your initial impressions of Thrones! I am well, just trying to finish House of Leaves over the weekend, then I can thankfully return to A Feast for Crows!

message 76: by Riya (new)

Riya Yeah, today's been a great week for me. It's nice that it was so fast, but I"m also sad to see it go. Anyways, yeah the buddy reads are going great!!! I'm trying to get Game of Thrones right now! Glad you're fine too!

message 77: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Yes, time always seems to go by much too quickly! Awesome, I'm so glad they're going so well! Thank you.:) Let me know how it goes!

message 78: by Riya (new)

Riya Long time since I posted, but I'm back! And I'm spending the night catching up on all the reviews I need to write! So I will make up for my many weeks of not posting by posting literally tons of reviews for all the books I've read in the past month. Brace yourself!!!

message 79: by Riya (new)

Riya First off, one of my more entertaining reviews: Enclave. A truly horrendous book that I wish I had never read. I would rather gouge my eyes out than try this one again- like honestly horrendous...One of my 1 star books (and I've got less than 10 of them). So if you want some fun reading a review, just read my rant here

message 80: by Riya (new)

Riya Next, I read The Death Cure. This one was part of my big The Maze Runner series reread. Although I didn't like it as much as the first book, it was still extremely entertaining, without a single dull moment. Newt and Minho are both awesome characters who I loved reading about. The twists never let up, not even until the last moment. There was nothing that could've stopped me from picking up the prequel afterwards. Not my favorite book in the series, but my not at all disappointed review here

message 81: by Riya (new)

Riya Then I read The Kill Order- the prequel to the Maze Runner series. It was actually my favorite book in the whole series!! I found all the characters nice and refreshing. They had so much more depth than many of the characters from the Maze Runner. There was also constant action, and many of the secrets not only blew my mind, but also applied to the rest of the series- making them even more amazing. Totally the best Maze Runner book, and my brief but excited review is here

message 82: by Riya (new)

Riya After that came TimeRiders. This one was really irritating for me. I love science fiction books, and definitely time travel ones- but this one just messed up all the logistics! Like the ways in which the world reacted to the time traveling was just completely wrong, and I sadly couldn't get over this. The characters were also lightly boring. Overall this was a really lame book, and you can find my lame review here

message 83: by Riya (new)

Riya Sadly I was in for another disappointing read (but it was the last one for awhile!) and it was Everlost. I am a huge Neal Shusterman fan- like the Unwind series is just pure AMAZING. Somehow this book was the opposite. It was slow and boring and just lame. Not at all like Unwind!!! I wanted to like this book so badly, but it was just impossible. I guess I'll just stick to the Unwind series when it comes to Neal Shusterman, although I am glad I gave this book a try! My very disappointed review heret

message 84: by Riya (new)

Riya After 5 reviews, I'm done for the night. I plan to do around 7 or so tomorrow hopefully!! I really want to continue my plan, and then maybe I'll catch up :) It was nice writing so many reviews after so long though, and I was thankful that I remembered most of what I wanted to say. Overall, books are awesome, and writing my opinions about them just adds another level of entertainment :D

message 85: by Riya (new)

Riya So in 2013 I only posted 35 reviews despite reading 123 books. This year I plan on going back and reviewing a bunch of the books I read in 2013 along with ensuring that I post a review for most of the books I read this year! Hopefully I can do it :D

message 86: by Riya (new)

Riya So far I've done three reviews this year! The first one was for my reread of Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. This has been one of my favorite books, and it definitely didn't let me down the second time! I've been meaning to reread it for awhile, so I was also glad to finally get around to it. Anyways, this book was fantastic and all dystopian lovers should read it! Intense characters combined with a completely unique plot lead to an awesome book! And I hope you like my review!!!

message 87: by Riya (new)

Riya Next came Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Now this is not my normal type of read. I usually avoid paranormal books- and the cover is super cringeworthy. It seemed very stereotypical and predictable when I read the description, but I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised! This book was actually quite awesome! I don't know how or why I liked it, but I definitely did. If you're in the mood for a light, quick, and entertaining read you definitely need to try this one! Here's my shocked review!!

message 88: by Riya (new)

Riya Lastly came Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This book was the sequel to Obsidian. From the moment I finished the first book it took me a bout a minute to buy and download this to by kindle. It then took about two sittings (in way less than a day) to read the entire book. Although it wasn't as good as the first one, it was still an entertaining read. I'm quite surprised I still like this series, but alas, I find myself continuing it. The twists were quite shocking, and the characters were amazing as usual. Definitely a must-read after the first one! And I can't wait to start the next book in the series- I already downloaded it :P Here's my shocked (again!) review!!!!

message 89: by Riya (new)

Riya Finished another book lately- Pretties by Scott Westerfeld. This reread was sadly not good at all. It had also been one of my favorite books, but it just wasn't up to standard. Unlike the first book which met my expectations and was completely awesome, this one just wasn't. Like all the characters were super annoying- especially Shay. Also there are some heavy topics (cutting, starving yourself) that are just written about so lightly in this book. Here's my disappointed review

message 90: by Riya (new)

Riya So I finished the third book in the Lux series, Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This book came right after Onyx and was quite good. The ending was just killer- like honestly a crazy cliffhanger! I already downloaded the fourth book, and can't wait to start it later today. Again, this book wasn't up to par with the first one, but it was still an enjoyable read. The characters were fantastic and layered as usual, and the plot twists were only slightly predictable. For the most part I just didn't see it coming! Here's my shocked (x3) review!

message 91: by Riya (new)

Riya Another update- currently reading like 6 books (The Sign of Four, The House of Hades, Crown of Midnight, Open Minds, The Moon and More, and Origin) The middle two are for buddy reads with a schedule- so those aren't out of hand, and the last two are in series I just recently started and will probably finish both of those really soon. Sadly, the first two books have gotten slightly out of hand, as I haven't picked them up in a couple weeks. My goal is to finish both today or tomorrow- and hopefully I can! :)

message 92: by Riya (new)

Riya So I've now finished the last book in the Lux series that has been released so far, Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Honestly, this book was one of the best one in the series. I'm definitely glad I continued cause whatever wariness I had about the series was zapped away by reading this book- it was truly amazing. The characters were all so layered and developed so much. The best part however were the plot twists. I totally didn't see them coming and they made the book so awesome. I can't believe that I will have to wait months for the next one- totally looking forward to it! Here's my excited review!!

message 93: by Riya (new)

Riya So I've also finished The House of Hades and The Sign of Four. I have yet to write reviews for either of them- but they were both amazing, regardless. Honestly, I'm dying to read The Blood of Olympus which isn't going to be released for ages :( On the bright side, at least I can start The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes soon, since I own it! Anyways, right now I'm just reading two books- City of Bones and Just Listen. Just Listen is a reread, and I don't really recall liking it too much the first time through. City of Bones on the other hand is really quite awesome! Hopefully it'll stay this good for the rest of the book :) And I got a bunch of books from the library that I'll be able to start once I finish these two- so yay!!!!

message 94: by Riya (new)

Riya I recently finished the infamous City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Although it didn't live up to the all the crazy hype, it was still an entertaining read and I definitely plan on continuing the series. My favorite part would simply be reading about Simon- he definitely was an awesome character who was way too good for Clary, the annoying and lame main heroine. She's definitely not the strong female heroine I normally like reading about, so I really was not a Clary fan in the slightest. Jace was also slightly lacking, although not nearly as much as Clary was. And the plot was quite predictable for the most part, although it was still pretty good. I look forward to reading the next book either way! Here's my disappointed review!

message 95: by Riya (new)

Riya So I've finished a few books lately! I mainly finished Point Blank, The Elite, and The Guard. They were all extremely awesome- especially The Elite!!! Honestly that book was just amazing- even better than the first. I'm DYING to get my hands on the next book, but I sadly have 3 months to wait :( I'm a hardcore Maxon fan now, so I can't wait for this final book! Hopefully I can write some reviews soon- I'll have a bunch of time next weekend so I'll probably just do some catch up then :)

message 96: by Riya (new)

Riya So I also finished Goddess Interrupted, Heat Wave, and Skeleton Key. Skeleton Key was a classic awesome Alex Rider novel- super fast paced and impossible to put down! Already super excited about the next one that I've just started- Eagle Strike! Goddess Interrupted was okay and I wasn't a huge fan of the ending. I'm starting the third book now, The Goddess Inheritance, so hopefully that'll be better. Heat Wave was also pretty dang awesome! I was pleasantly surprised was actually pretty good quality, and I look forward to continuing the series. I'm also doing a reread of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone along with starting The Assassin's Curse!

message 97: by Riya (new)

Riya Now I've finished The Goddess Inheritance and The Assassin's Curse. Sadly the Goddess Inheritance was really quite bad...honestly a huge disappointment. The Assassin's Curse on the other hand was surprisingly great and I really enjoyed reading it!! Hopefully the second book will be fantastic as well :)

I'm still rereading HP, and reading Eagle Strike. I also have started Specials and Naked Heat!

message 98: by Riya (new)

Riya So I finished Eagle Strike and started the fifth Alex Rider book- Scorpia. I'm still rereading HP and reading Naked Heat. I also started What Happened to Goodbye and The Hunt. I have high expectations for both of them :)

I also finished Specials, and started reading the last book in the Uglies universe- Extras. Specials was significantly better than Pretties, although I have no expectations for the final book. Here's a more detailed description of Specials in my review!
