Yay! Sounds fun! Kind of a long walk from California to Utah though."

I'd love to do something like that sometime. Did you ever read A Walk Across America?

message 208: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I have not. A friend from my youth did this sort of thing, as I referenced above. Here is a short piece he wrote about one of his experiences:

scherzo♫ (pjreads) Getting up earlier and earlier for my 5K walk every morning ... 81 degrees at 5:00 a.m. today

The seven months of summer are not the best time to live in AZ.

I like a dry heat as long as there is a cool breeze. Moist heat, like in the south has more aroma and sound to it. More flavor, if you will.

message 214: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24779 comments Mod
Today 2.51 miles.

message 215: by evie (new)

evie (ecie) | 4437 comments I walked 1.5kms today and yesterday.

message 216: by Hazel (new)

Hazel | 37 comments tuesday, I walked about 5 or 6 miles, and then suffered heat exhaustion due to dyhydration... teach me to walk that far without enough water. So yesterday I cabbaged and rehydrated.

message 217: by Peanut (new)

Peanut | 35 comments I usually walk up to my local library to pick up/drop off my books. And then there is the usual walking around to shop! ;)

We are considering a move to a house where I will be able to walk to my new job. Hurrah! I was SO AFRAID that moving to Colorado Springs meant I would have to commute a half hour to work.

message 220: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24779 comments Mod
You're changing jobs again?

You may want to wait until the fires die down, at least.

message 221: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) You didn't tell us about the new job. Why are we always the last to know these things?

message 222: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24779 comments Mod
Yeah, why?

message 223: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24779 comments Mod
Also, half hour commute! OH THE HUMANITY.

I had a 1 1/2 hour commute each way for four years.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Yes, Lg, I'm changing jobs again. Suck it. I deserve the BEST school ever.

And Larry, Lg, I hid the job search and move from the entire internet. You guys are nearly the first to know.

message 225: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I agree you deserve the best school ever. First to know! First to know!

Jim | 6484 comments Yay Sallers, Second or third to know, second or third to know!

message 227: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Approximately 2 miles tonight.

message 228: by Emily (new)

Emily E (emily_e1) | 1032 comments I have an hour 1/2 commute each way for work for 3.5 years now. When I am good and public transport it I read much more than the weeks where I am lazy and drive.

I walked around the Rememberance Shrine yesterday. Peaceful.

message 229: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments How can we stalk you effectively if you keep withholding important information? Now Jim has to make last-second adjustments to his schedule, which is quite inconvenient.

message 230: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments It really is.

message 231: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) But we can't give up. It's too important.

message 232: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments There will be no give up Larry, not with you cracking the whip!

message 233: by Emily (new)

Emily E (emily_e1) | 1032 comments Who are we stalking?

message 234: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sally. It's a tradition.

message 238: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Geez Larry you're giving away all of our secrets.

message 239: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sorry. See edit above.

message 240: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments That's good, now nobody knows again.

message 241: by Amy (new)

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 304 comments That's why I like you guys. Being in the dark is very comforting. I feel secure in my ignorance.

message 246: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Not much walking yesterday, but I did ride 32 miles. I usually do closer to 50 but I needed to get home so I could see "Brave" with my family.

How was Brave - did you like it?

message 248: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments It was as predictable as any other Disney production, but I thought it was fun. There were some moments that made me giggle, and some that almost brought a tear.

Nice to see a Disney feature character with two living parents (unlike Bambi, Snow White, Cinderella, etc., etc.).

message 249: by Amy (new)

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 304 comments Thanks - I'm planning to see it this week.

message 250: by Mark (new)

Mark Burns (TheFailedPhilosopher) | 441 comments I went for a walk around the park with my best secondary school friend yesterday. It was a lot of fun catching up. He's gay now.
