Wondering how Crick ended up in Iraq? I'm sure we'll get there....
Wow Crick met Deacon when he was nine and instantly fell in love...uuuhhmmm WOW. Personally I was still thinking about Barbies and had no clue to even be interested in boys,no clue about make-up, clothes, lol. I was still a kid.
Crick's Mom and StepDad suck ~ I don't get how a Mom can go for a guy that is crappy to her child/ren and be ok with it?? I'd rather be single and take care of my kids on my own if necessary. Crick is such a good parent to his little sisters. Sad that many kids really do live this way.
Deacon and Parrish have an interesting father/son relationship. It almost seems as if they are equals and not father/son.
I have to say I don't get the whole Amy/Deacon relationship but telling John it was ok to date her once she went to college. That seems a little too insightful for a senior IMO.
Just got finished with Brian's funeral and his mom being an ass in front of the whole town. Wow that sucked. Oh and his fabulous parents threw him out. This should be interesting. (hide spoiler)]

I got into the second chapter. I really like the beginning.

I was still playing Barbie's at that age too. I think that Crick's life is so lonely and unhappy that he is growing up to fast.

I think it is really sweet that Deacon & Parrish have taken a liking to him.

I'm not sure how to hide spoilers, but I will figure it out in the morning and say more then!

Yep - that was sad especially with what had just happened before. Poor Brian and Crick.
(view spoiler)[ I got the impression when Deacon comes trying to find Crick after the car crash that Deacon has feelings for Crick but doesn't want to express them. Wondering if he has known all along he had feelings for Crick but didn't want to express or he's bi since he had feelings for Amy too or he's undecided... can't tell yet. Wondering if he's not saying anything because he knows he has no plan to leave the area and knows that Crick wants to get out. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished chapter 7 and I want to stay up all night reading this! I won't though. :)

I can't believe how dumb Crick was when he enlisted. Why did he do that?! He says why, but...really! You just got to be with the man that you have been in love with since you were nine and you do that? (hide spoiler)]

I wasn't able to read this at all yesterday. I had to finish another book for a challenge that was due today. I'll read more tonight and catch up to you.

I made it to the end of Chapter 7 tonight ~ wow these boys definitely don't have an easy way at all. Yep no clue what was going through Crick's mind at that moment. How sad was that!?!

Very sad, a lot of sadness for these young men. I have teared up a few times. My heart almost broke in chapter seven, and then even more in Chapter 8 or 9. I'm on chapter 12 and I am emotionally attached to these characters.

I'm starting chapter 11. I feel like I have hopped on a train wreck! (view spoiler)[ Jon and Amy have just helped Deacon through withdrawal. Yikes. Benny is pregnant and now living with Deacon ~ double Yikes! And now Crick is lost in the desert with a trigger happy idiot. (hide spoiler)]

Felt bad for Deacon (and for Crick's guilt) when Crick had his *lonely* night in Germany. Nice though that Crick got rid of Jimmy once he got back and now has Lisa to talk to about stuff since Deacon has Benny, Jon and Amy if he will talk. Interesting that Private Blood Loss came to visit and had already figured out about them. Now there is flooding in California and Deacon's truck breaks down in front of a bar - really?!? Wow - sometimes I think Deacon's life really sucks... (hide spoiler)]

Ok I'm done. I'm emotionally spent. What a roller coaster ride. Thanks for the recommendation!!

Crick and Deacon have really made an awesome family. Too funny that Shane ends up being gay as well and Crick has a gay PT. I totally cracked up when he came out to his doctor to give the go ahead for sex with Deacon. (hide spoiler)]

I'm so glad you loved it Melissa! I loved the second one even more. The audio was amazing.

I had to go and peek at all the blurbs about the others in the series - I'm sure I will be reading them all eventually.
I believe this is the first time I've read this author as well!

First chance to get on the computer since yesterday! I finished it as well. I loved it. (view spoiler)[I loved Benny's addition to the story, and I cried when she told Deacon that he was all the father Parry would ever need. I'm so glad that Deacon and Crick got a HEA. They went through so much. I felt bad for the Germany mistake...sad. Melanie should be sterilized. I have no respect for mothers like that. I loved their home-made family. Love is all that matters!

Couldn't believe she was surprised when Crick didn't want to see her at all when he was hurt. Totally don't get people like that?!? Loved Benny she was a riot. Deacon really is the best taking care of Parry and getting the jerk to testify on his behalf without knowing that was going to put him away ~ priceless!

His mom, if you can call her that, was clueless. I was surprised she bothered to go, it seemed so out of character. People like that don't get it, because they think that the world should revolve around them.

(view spoiler)[ What about the part where step-Bob tries to steal the baby and Deacon beats the holy hell out of him. Really? Step-Bob really thinks he is better for Parry. Melanie and Bob are feeling all righteous, because they started to go to church. It didn't stop them from having the youngest two taken away and sent to their grandma. Anyway, Deacon is my hero!

And yes, I laughed when Crick got the Dr.'s note. So funny! (hide spoiler)]

That was priceless when they got him to testify against himself! I loved that part. He was a loser.
