Adam Siegfried | 5 comments Everyone has shown interest in starting a monthly book club so seeing how July is just around the corner perhaps we can open the floor for nominations.

I suggest everyone name one title and author they wish to nominate and Monday we begin voting. Voting can end on the 4th so we don't waste too much time that can be spent reading.

Joel (deliriumtrigger) | 312 comments I nominate THE RITHMATIST by Brandon Sanderson. It came out last month, and I personally am yet to read it, but being as Brandon is a master of fantasy, I am beyond interested.

Aksel I've read the Rithmatist. It's pretty good, though a light read. So there's not enough material to be discussed in a book club setting in my opinion. So I'd suggest maybe a heftier, and a more mature book. What it is though I'll leave up to you fine people.

PJ | 5 comments I nominate The Gunslinger by Stephen King. It's the first book in a series that I feel more people should read. It's a bit shorter than a lot of fantasy books out there, but I feel that it's mature enough in theme for it to elicit a really good discussion here. Plus, although it wasn't in r/fantasy, there was an excellent Stephen King AMA last week.

Chris (escapistreads) How about Lyonesse by Jack Vance?

Lisa (tenaciousreader) | 301 comments I'll nominate The Whitefire Crossing (Shattered Sigil #1) by Courtney Schafer

Joel (deliriumtrigger) | 312 comments I just got my copy of Whitefire Crossing, so I'd love to see that nominated as well!

message 8: by Theophrastus (new)

Theophrastus Bombastus | 6 comments I've had The Whitefire Crossing for a while now, and I still haven't even started it. I'd throw a vote at it.

Atom Cordelia's Honor

Humberto | 2 comments Red Seas Under the Skies

Данияр (raincastr) Short listing and then polling the book of the month.

message 12: by Marie (new)

Marie (frankweiler) | 9 comments The Goblin Tower, by L. Sprague de Camp. I think it would be fun to go back and read something classic, rather than just discuss the latest series' installments from contemporary authors.

I'll second that

message 14: by Mark (new)

Mark Lawrence (marklawrence) | 34 comments I was going to nominate The Whitefire Crossing, but I'm too late for that. How about, Control Point by Myke Cole.

message 15: by John (new)

John Wiswell Hey folks! On Reddit itself some folks were discussing reading Helene Wecker's The Golem and the Jinni at the beginning of December. If the Goodreads group hasn't picked a December book yet, would you be interested in giving Wecker a shot and merging the reading interests?

I didn't see a marked December Read yet, and didn't want to make a new thread. Hope this is okay, even if this thread is a bit old.

I think that sounds great. I just opened the nomination thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I will definitely second it as I want to read it and would love to read it with a group. I don't know if we want to forgo the vote, but could always open a discussion here for it even if it doesn't win (if there is desire for it). Personally, for book read alongs/discussions, I prefer the format ofGoodreads to reddit.
