Jenny (jchen123) | 14 comments I read all the books in this series with optimism and high hope that it would live up to all the great reviews. After finishing it, I personally thought it was a slightly-better-than-average series. Nothing really stood out to me and as I read it around 6 months ago, I can honestly say I don't remember much from this series. If you are bored and this happens to be on your bookshelf, I'd say go for it! It won't bore you to death but you won't be blown away by it.

J.M. Varner (jmvarner) | 2 comments I found the prequel to be a huge let-down. 'Run there! Shoot that! Oh no, more infected!' Very one-dimensional; no depth at all.

My thought is that this fourth book was quickly thrown together to make a little more $ off of fans of the first 3 books.... And fans of the upcoming movie.

chinami | 126 comments this trilogy is original and amazing story wise. i would have loved it more had there been more romance.

Monique Burton I loved the first book! Im about to read the second one, and I think it is neck and neck with Divergent if not better. The only reason I would say its tied with divergent is because they are very different books.

Harlee I really like it the first time I read it but instead of getting the sequel after that I moved on to something else. I came back and reread this one a couple times and by then I think it lost some of it's appeal to me. I finally got the next one around Christmas and really liked that too. Eventually I'll get around to getting the last one. Who all has read the prequel? Is it any good?

I absolutely loved the series, but the prequel was kind of a let down. It just describes how the flare came to be. It might have just been because I missed the original characters.

Harlee That's how I felt reading The Scorch Trials when they split up. I was surprised how much I missed the gang lol

Me too!!! I was so excited when the trailer came, I don't know if I can wait till September 19.

Megumi (megzbrownlee) This book is one of the best I've read. Maybe now, it's a bit too easy for my level, but still well written. I just can't wait for the movie to come out!

Harlee I can't wait to see this movie!!

Caroline I really enjoyed the books and i can't wait till the movie comes out

Have you guys read The Kill Order? It's the prequel. OMG it was so sad!!!!!

Rachel Just finished it!

Here is my review: 3 out of 5 stars. I do not put spoliers in my reviews because that ruin the fun in reading!

The Maze Runner is an action packed thrill ride, but it has a slow start. It wasn't until I was about 10 chapters into the novel that it got really good. The book reminded me a lot of the TV show, Lost, and the novel, Lord of the Flies. This book is geared more to the male demographic, but if you are a fan of dystopian novels this one is one not to miss. You feel for the characters, and easily have a favorite. Mine was Chuck. It is an interesting story with an unusal twist. Hopefully, the movie adaption will be fantastic! The story is very visual, and deserved to be developed into a movie.

After reading the book, I watched the trailer for the movie and WOW!!!! Filled with lots of action, and I love the casting. I am hesistant with a September release date the studio didn't have high hopes for this film.

Brandon Book Nerd (kuyabrandon) | 43 comments Why do they have to make every TMR book sad? I bawled in the first book, shed a few in the second and cried a river in the third. I personally thank Goodreads for introducing me to this series, for it has been worthy enough to make it to the top of my "best series" list. I love these books I couldn't put it down whenever I read each of the books. I have not yet read the prequel, but I'll plan to later on, considering that there has been plenty bad reviews on it.

Update: I just found out that it'll be a movie days ago. I seriously can't wait! September right? I'll count the days until then! I'm jittery with joy that I will actually see Dylan O' Brien (Whose role in Teen Wolf rocks even though I've only seen one season) play the main protagonist. I hope the producers don't mess it up like how most movies based on books are.

I'm currently on the second book. I thought the first book was amazing. It really intrigued me. It started off kind of slow but then it got more interesting as it went along. The characters were good. And the book seemed well thought out. It was good to see how we went into the book as of we had Thomas's mind set.

Carli Rossi I started reading this book a couple of days ago and it is failing to keep me interested. I'm on chapter 11 and it seems kind of slow. I don't get the secrecy factor of the Glade. Hope it gets more interesting

Carli Rossi Well, my wish came true. It got more interesting. I gave it 4 stars though because of the beginning and also I didn't like Teresa's character. I mean, it's a male author trying to describe a teenage girl and he just failed. But I really liked the book overall. Nice, intriguing plot, got familiar with the characters, easy reading. It's a good book, lets go for The Scorch Trials now,

Gennifer Eccles (genni_g) | 28 comments Those were my same sexact feeling of the Maze Runner! I read all three this year and while I never liked Teresa's character, the second and third books are much more interesting and don't have the slow exposition like Maze Runner did. Scorch Trials is my favorite out of all of them!

Carli Rossi I just started with Scorch Trials! I wish I like it even better than the first one.
There is something off about Teresa, I don't know, the way she talks, the words she uses, how she behaves I don't know...

Just keep reading!

Kari (BookandCoffeeLover) (clear_tranquil) | 6 comments I love The Maze Runner trilogy!! I find these books incredibly difficult to put down. the prequel was fascinating! I really enjoy this universe!

jule_is_a_booklover I read the series last month and I must say that it's been an exhausting ride. In the end I eas really glad when I finished the books and that not a feeling I usually want to have with a book.
I just think that the books would better work out as movies- or at least I hope they will. My main problems with the ' Maze Runner'-Series wasn't the story itself, which is not bad or boring. The problem's more what James Dashner made of it by his -in comparison to other writers I love- poor writing skills. The worst of all for me was, that I just couldn't come to care for the characters of the books. I mean, they could all have been blown to pieces and I wouldn't mind. Even Thomas and I mean, how bad is that? In the end, he's the protagonist, a person I maybe should be able to identify myself with.
I am really interested in seeing the movie because I want to know what they made of the story and if it will be the same for me or if- in this rarest of cases- the movie will be better than the books. I keep my fingers crossed...

message 75: by Ria (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ria @Juliane I agree, the writing style was not very compelling. It was so repetitive and got annoying after awhile. I read the first and second book, do you think the last is worth reading?

jule_is_a_booklover @Maria, yes on a level of closure it was worth reading to me, just to know how it all turns out in the end. I mean, I didn't like the series so much, obviously, but it wasn't that bad that I didn't want to know what happens in the end. Also I thought Dashner would finally provide answers to all the questions he raised in the first two books. If these answers are satisfying, well, that you may have to decide for yourself. ;-)

message 77: by Della catalyst (new)

Della catalyst (the12thman) I loved it! didn't like any of Thomas' girlfriends though. this author did a great job creating an action-packed dystopia.

message 78: by a (new) - rated it 4 stars

a (geliereads) | 8 comments I loved it too! The idea was very original and we get a male character as the main for a change. Though it had a slow pace at first and I had trouble being used to the slang, in the end I was so hooked.

I did not like that there were so many questions unanswered though even at the end of the whole series.

Ron Scheer | 0 comments I really liked this series. Can't wait for the movie
anyone checked out his latest book The Eye of Minds (The Mortality Doctrine, #1) by James Dashner

Victoria (VictoriaZukaite) | 9 comments Finished reading the book a few days ago and it was soooo good! Can't wait to read the 2 other books and see the movie!

Brandon Book Nerd (kuyabrandon) | 43 comments Victoria wrote: "Finished reading the book a few days ago and it was soooo good! Can't wait to read the 2 other books and see the movie!"

Please don't read the prequel. It is very boring and it doesn't answer most of your questions you had when reading the series.

Carli Rossi I am on book 3 and I was hoping either this book or the prequel or even the "maze runner files" would explain or answer everything, but from your reviews I am prepared to be disappointed :(

Francesca Moore | 4 comments I read The Maze Runner last week and I'm not sure what I really thought of it to be honest! It was a good concept but so odd at the same time. Not sure if I can bring myself to read the second book in the series.

I look forwards to watching the film when it comes out.

Danielle Just started Maze runner a couple days go! So far I'm addicted and its amazing! Iv been waiting 2 months for this book! (Because it was unavailable in all libraries since the movie trailer came out).

❥Katlynn (katlynnvn) I thought it would be more exciting bc well the idea sounded obivsly cool but yeah...didn't like it a whole lot, but that cliff hanger though!

message 86: by Ria (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ria I didn't really like the lack of relationship building between the characters, like I mean I felt sad at what happened to chuck but thomas over caring saying he was like a brother wasnt really believable :/

It was boring at parts, but the end was so sad...

Carli Rossi The prequel is even worse than the Trilogy.....

I cant wait for the movie!!! I want to see how close it is to the book. :)

Catherine H (catherinexreads) So excited for the movie! Can hardly wait

message 91: by Ashley (new) - added it

Ashley Thomas | 50 comments I have really mixed feelings about reading this series. My friend is reading it now and she says that the series is really slow and there is not alot of romance in it. But I really want to see the movie. But I also don't want to see the movie without reading the book. I have two other friends who started reading The Maze Runner and couldn't get past the first 100 pages. So should I read the series or not even bother with it?

Ricky (spider-fan) @Ashley: Well, of course there's not a lot of romance. It's an almost all-guy cast of characters. But this is that one dystopian that exists more for action than love. Have that in mind when you read it.

Catherine H (catherinexreads) It's amazing, ashley! It's a very twisted kind of romance, but very action packed. If you like romance, I wouldn't recommend this book.

Evah | 34 comments I love this book it is my favorite book of all time!!

Paulina (littledreammer) | 19 comments I read it a few weeks ago and I loved it! It's also one of my favorite books.

Bookiemonster | 30 comments I just live it because it portrays boys really well. Other authors show boys as buff, handsome witty, and all around"perfect". But this book actually who's them as humans.

Dominique (dominiquebookliver) | 28 comments I am almost done with the book and I am really surprised so see how good it was I thought it was just going to be another apocalyptic teen hero but the way the characters develop has just astonished me.

Dominique (dominiquebookliver) | 28 comments I just finished reading the book about 30 minutes ago. I love the story so much and I love the characters so much. I cant wait to go the the book store to get the next one.

Danielle Bonelephant (lovelyneighbour) I really felt like I was a part of the story. I truly cared for these characters.
